IT Support Specialist Summer Internship - STR

Join STR's Service Desk Team as a Summer Intern to hone your IT administration skills and sharpen your organizational abilities. As a summer intern, you'll become a part of our team, actively engaged in the day-to-day activities of the service desk while benefiting from the dedicated mentorship of seasoned professionals. This hands-on experience will include addressing walk-in support needs, overseeing the flow of the request queue, and playing a role in the execution of special projects. Professionalism is paramount, and you'll be entrusted with the autonomy to make informed decisions under moderate supervision. Join us this summer and play an important role in resolving critical technical issues and contributing to the delivery of reliable solutions to complex, real-world challenges.
Duties:
- Provide efficient and effective first line of support for local, remote, and mobile staff.
- Identify, research, and resolve technical issues for users in a positive manner.
- Perform hands-on diagnostics at the desktop level, including installing and upgrading software, implementing file backups, and configuring systems and applications.
- Test issue remediation to ensure problem has been adequately resolved. Perform post-resolution follow-ups, time permitting.
- Creation and administration of Active Directory user accounts.
- Provide new computers for employees.
- Test new images for Windows and Mac Operating Systems.
- Help in maintaining scanners, copiers, printers, and workstations.
- Support summer intern program. To include configuration of computers, administration rights, first line support, and equipment reconciliation when the internship is complete.
- Administrate and help manage the ITSM system; Assign tickets to other IT members and take ownership of tickets for desktop services.
Additional areas for professional growth and development include:
- Networking – switches, patch panels, making cables, punching down network jacks.
- Data Storage – NetApp storage allocation and management.
- Modular image deployment – Using Microsoft Deployment Tool to install images.
- Business Applications – ServiceNow, Asset Management, Microsoft Licensing, etc.
Requirements:
- Enrollment in a post-secondary educational degree program related to the Information Technology industry.
- Exceptional administrative, organizational, and time management skills.
- Ability to learn/engage in training for Information Technology systems and apply those skills to support of the user base.
- Strong verbal and written communications skills.
- Strong personal interest in the Information Technology areas.
- Self-starter with ability to work independently, collaboratively and be customer service oriented.

This position requires the ability to obtain a security clearance, for which U.S. citizenship is needed by U.S. Government.
