Lead Marine has immediate openings for a IT Support Specialist in the San Diego Naval Shipyard Industry. The IT Support Specialist serves as a point of contact for all technical issues and provides user support to all employees. It will also monitor IT requests, alerts, patching, network accounts, computer setups, with emphasis on NIST recommended cybersecurity best practices.
The position will also be responsible for administering, troubleshooting, and resolving all issues with servers (VMs), networks, switches, ap’s, mobile devices, hardware, workstation-based applications, printers, IP phones, and peripherals, and will require a deep and broad knowledge of servers, computer software, hardware, and network infrastructure, and a solid understanding of Windows OS’
Responsibilities:
- Administer and maintain network and system security via group policy, access controls in AD.
- Perform patching and updates on servers, endpoints, antivirus, operating systems, applications, and computing equipment on a regular basis.
- Creation of user accounts: Active Directory, permissions, access control list, with emphasis on cyber security access control list standards. Maintains MS365 and Azure/Entra, accounts, management of email filters, monitors Antivirus alerts. Setup, troubleshoot, repair, and test network, computer equipment, MDM mobile devices, and related IT networked devices, switches, access points, cabling under best cybersecurity practices.
- Administer and ensure network connectivity throughout the company’s LAN/WAN infrastructure and is on par with technical and best practice NIST recommended cyber security considerations.
- Maintain network servers, VMs, file/application servers, firewall, VPN, and gateways under best NIST cybersecurity recommendations.
- Respond to customer inquiries (email, phone, remote, in-person, onsite) and assist in troubleshooting and resolving challenges with a friendly presence and helpful demeanor.
- Provide basic training for end-users, answer questions on how hardware, software, and processes work, i.e., mobile devices, software applications, printers, regarding cybersecurity best practices.
- Work alongside the IT Manager and IT Staff, make recommendations for future tech upgrades.
- Attends educational workshops, seminars, and conferences. Stays current in the latest IT trends, skillsets, and certifications.
- Maintains all associated IT systems, IP phones, devices, networks, software, hardware, and tools required for the job.
Requirements:
- Solid experience with Microsoft Operating Systems Win, Active Directory, GPOs, DNS, DHCP, Security, Server Editions with MS Virtualization
- Excellent Admin hybrid experience in MS365, Exchange/Azure-Entra/Intune administration highly desired.
- WAN/LAN, WLAN, VPN, Anti-Virus/malware endpoint applications or similar.
- Some administration of firewall technology and switching.
- Experience with network, server, computer monitoring software.
- Experience with email-filtering, cybersecurity best practices.
- Experience with iSCSI SAN-NAS
- Knowledge of NIST 800-171/CMMC 2.0 a plus.
- High school diploma, GED equivalent, or greater educational diploma in related technology field.
- Must have a minimum of 4-5 years or more experience and a working understanding of Windows Server, network technologies, and computers. (MS Certification, AZ Certification, Hyper-V, Cisco preferred)
- Network technologies, and computers. (Cisco, N+, Sec+ or newer MS Certification preferred)
- Real-world experience with MS365/Azure-Entra/Intune administration
- Real-world experience with MS Server – AD, DNS, DHCP administration
- Must be able to speak and understand English. Bi-lingual a plus.
