JOB SUMMARY
This position is responsible for the support of daily activities associated with the administration, maintenance, availability, and operations of organizational IT solutions across all TCGE locations. This includes all computing devices, server / network Infrastructure, all applications and supporting solutions. Under general direction, the IT Support Specialist provides customer support; provides systems and user administration; manages and maintains technology assets, applications, and solutions. In addition, this position will contribute to the design, development, testing, deployment, support, and documentation of a variety of current and new technical solutions and platforms.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Provides primary point-of-contact and front-line support to local and remote computer users
- Troubleshoots problems and provides resolution where possible or escalates as appropriate
- Acts as systems support contact for shop floor end users, professional staff, customers, and vendors
- Assists other IT related personnel with various day-to-day activities
- Installs, configures, and maintains software and hardware on end-user computers, devices, and peripherals
- Installs, configures, and maintains software and hardware on network physical and virtual servers
- Installs, configures, and maintains software and hardware on network and communications components
- Provides technical support and guidance as to technology solutions and their basic operation
- Configures and performs file server and device backups as required and supports disaster recovery efforts
- Manages technology assets, including hardware, software, and support requisition, tracking, and licensing
- Supports systems software, hardware, and connectivity to ensure maximum availability and performance
- Assists in administration of a variety of database systems including MS SQL Server, Oracle, etc. as needed
- Developments system hardware and software reference and usage documentation
- Helps evaluate and recommend hardware and software targeted to meet organizational computing needs
- Initiates, undertakes, and contributes to special projects as assigned or anticipated
- Travels at times to assist or coordinate resolution, deployment, upgrades, or projects at remote locations
- Performs other duties as required that are in support of the department's goals

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Associate degree in technical field or high school diploma with a minimum of 3 years of IT support experience.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE
Windows Active Directory Administration
Office 365 (User / Exchange Administration)
Windows Desktop and Server Administration (Windows 10/11 and Server 2016+)
At least 3 years' experience in IT technical end-user support utilizing a helpdesk system and support tools.
Extensive knowledge of PC hardware/software solutions and administration
Extensive knowledge and experience in Microsoft Office programs, Active Directory, and Exchange
At least 3 years' experience in WAN/LAN environment, with proficiency in MS Windows Server preferred
At least 3 years' experience network and server virtualization support
PREFERRED TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE
Cisco Switch Technologies
Bitdefender Endpoint Security
Understanding of IT Security concepts
ManageEngine ServiceDesk Plus
Understanding of IT security concepts and practices
Unix/Linux experience a plus
Software and database development and programming experience a plus
Production Systems support exposure a plus (Aveva System Platform)
