The IT Project Manager will be responsible for planning, executing, and overseeing IT projects within the organization. Working closely with engineers and support technicians, the IT Project Manager will ensure that projects are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget while adhering to established standards and best practices. This role requires strong proficiency in project management methodologies, as well as an understanding of IT infrastructure and support operations. The IT Project Manager will also coordinate the organization's IT change management processes with the IT Operations Manager, ensuring seamless transitions for IT-related changes.
Essential Functions
- Project Planning and Execution:
- Develop project charters, work breakdown structures (WBS), and detailed project plans.
- Define project scope, goals, and deliverables in collaboration with stakeholders.
- Identify resource requirements and allocate them effectively.
- Stakeholder Management:
- Establish and maintain relationships with project stakeholders.
- Establish and facilitate communication plans to ensure all stakeholders are informed and aligned.
- Risk and Issue Management:
- Create and maintain RAID logs (Risks, Assumptions, Issues, Dependencies).
- Proactively identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies.
- Team Coordination:
- Collaborate with IT engineers and support technicians to define and execute tasks.
- Coordinate cross-functional teams to ensure project objectives are met.
- Tracking and Reporting:
- Develop and maintain RACI (Responsible, Accountable, Consulted, Informed) matrices.
- Monitor and report on project progress, milestones, and outcomes to leadership.
- Use project management tools and techniques to track timelines and budgets.
- Compile and share project documentation, including artifacts developed during project planning, execution, and project retrospection
- Track project change requests to document and approve changes in project scope
- Provide communication and metrics to leadership on portfolio of managed projects
- Process Improvement:
- Identify opportunities to streamline project management processes.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of IT project management standards.
- Change Management:
- Assist the IT Operations Manager with the change management process for IT-related changes. This would include collaborating on vetting the proposed changes and facilitating the weekly meetings for the Change Advisory Board.
- Work with the infrastructure engineering team and the support team to develop and implement change management plans, including impact assessments and risk evaluations.
- Coordinate with stakeholders to ensure all changes are documented, approved, and communicated effectively.
Qualifications
- Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Business, or a related field.
- 4-6 years of experience in IT project management, preferably in a medium-size enterprise environment.
- PMP, PRINCE2, or similar project management certification is highly desirable.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficient in using project management tools (e.g. Monday.com, Microsoft Project, etc.)
- Familiarity with IT infrastructure, systems, and support operations.
- Knowledge of change management frameworks (e.g., ITIL Change Management) is preferred.
- Experience with Azure DevOps is a plus.
- Soft Skills:
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
- Problem-solving mindset and attention to detail.
- Comfortable with negotiation of change with the organization and adaptability to a fast-paced environment.
