About the Job
The Network Administrator position is a full-time position in the Information Technology (IT) Department. The Network Administrator, under general supervision, will be responsible for network architecture, security and day-to-day operations. Specifically working with design, security, configuration, implementation, maintenance and administration activities in an enterprise network and server infrastructure. This includes telecommunications circuits, LANs, WANs, Switches, Routers, Firewalls, Virtual and Physical Server platforms, SANs and other related network equipment. This position is routinely assigned deliverables on various technical projects and works independently as well as part of a team. This role contributes to the team in an effort to further share knowledge and processes and ensures lessons learned are documented. Travel between sites and after hours support services will be required. This position will report to the Chief Information Officer.
Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, hours depending upon need.
Compensation: $75,000 - $90,000 Depending on Experience
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
• Design, install, configure, troubleshoot, maintain, upgrade and audit the network infrastructure including; telecom circuits, fiber, LANs, VLANs, WANs, switches, routers, firewalls, wireless and other network equipment.
• Maintain reliable, secure and robust operation of network devices including installation and updates of operating systems and software releases, system upgrades and firewalls. Evaluate and install patches and resolve software related problems and other network services. Make recommendations regarding computer system security, monitor network, computer and disk utilization.
• Collaborate with Security and implement strong network security configurations, remediate vulnerabilities, and install firmware updates.
• Maintain and analyze all networking processes, protocols and procedures. Maintain and adhere to network security procedures.
• Ensure configuration backups are current and secure.
• Create and keep up to date network infrastructure documentation.
• Define monitors and ensure network performance and reliability.
• Proactively identify potential problems and perform upgrades or updates as necessary.
• Ensure uptime of mission critical infrastructure components and adhere to strict SLAs.
• Maintain governmental compliance and participate in audits as needed.
• Keep up to date on latest technologies and trends.
• Assist in the maintenance of the security architecture and infrastructure.
• Provide 24x7 on-call support as required.
• Follows operational procedures to appropriately analyze, escalate, and assist in remediation of critical information security incidents.
• Ensures the continuing effectiveness of current systems through appropriate testing and modification.
• Participates in the development of project proposals with emphasis on cost/benefits.
• Assist IT team with improvements to enhance functionality and service to users.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED SKILLS:
• Skilled in organizing and expressing ideas effectively in oral and written communication
• Excellent problem-solving and time-management skills
• Self-motivated and able to work effectively in a team environment
• 3+ years of experience configuring/supporting network switches, routers, firewalls and wireless devices
• Extensive knowledge of the following: EIGRP, VoIP, QoS, TCP/UDP, SSH, HTTP, HTTPS, SSL,NTP
• Extensive knowledge of network security including: ACL, VLAN, IPSEC, IPS/IDS, DoS, RADIUS
• Ability to terminate CAT5e/CAT6/CAT7 cabling and fiber optic
• Experience supporting data, storage and voice networking
• Proficient with Cisco network devices
• Hands on experience with network devices and appliances
• Working knowledge of computer systems and networks
• Highly organized, analytical and action oriented
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
(Persons applying for a position should have a combination of the following experience and training.)
Two years of information technology related experience or combination of post-secondary technical training such as: installing workstations, providing technical support for software, or installing and maintaining hardware, network infrastructure equipment, security or telecommunications software or hardware or equivalent education/experience.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Minimum of four years’ experience in information technology maintaining LAN/WAN networks
• Strong proficiency network cabling infrastructure, preference given to experience terminating and testing fiber optic and copper cabling
• Strong hands-on knowledge of Cisco networking solutions including LAN/WAN, switching, routing, wireless, firewalls, QoS and VPNs.
• Proficient in IOS, IOS-XE
• Strong knowledge of Cisco’s product line, including routers, switches, wireless solutions and ASA platforms.
• Certification in one or more of the following; information security, networking, systems administration or CCNA is highly desired
• Bachelor’s Degree in computer related discipline

Physical Requirements:
Move safely, quickly, and perform duties with repetitious movement. Sit and/or stand for shift, reach with hands and arms, stoop, squat, twist, push and pull, maintain balance, bend at the waist, kneel, walk varying distances, and climb stairs. Must be able to tolerate all weather elements, loud conditions, vibrations and airborne particles (sawdust).
