Job Brief
We are looking to hire an experienced Infrastructure Engineer to provide infrastructure design, architecture, implementation, and support services to a fleet of generation technology assets. This includes complex power generation control systems and network infrastructures that support power generation facilities.
Acting as a contingent worker and member of the Generation Infrastructure, Security, & Compliance (GISC) team, you will be responsible for contributing to decisions about design and planning, managing relationships with internal customers, and resolving infrastructure-related issues. This is a bridge position between Engineering, Operational Technology (OT) support, and Information Technology (IT) and requires an understanding of all areas and a willingness to learn and grow technically.
To ensure success in this position, the candidate should have extensive experience working with enterprise virtualization and network infrastructures, systems administration, collaborating with other IT and technical engineering teams, and managing the full spectrum of virtualization and network systems across Generation. As an Infrastructure Engineer, you will help build the next generation of technology infrastructure in support of Power Generation Plants.
Job Responsibilities
- Design, architect, implement, and maintain complex industrial virtualization infrastructures with considerations and integrations to Palo Alto firewalls/ VPNs, Cisco switches/routers, & various other server/infrastructure technologies.
- Provide integration and systems administration for various control technologies. Systems administration will include technologies that handle directory services, monitoring, patching, privileged access management, logging, OS management, backup and disaster recovery, and various other operational systems in support of the power plants.
- Collaborate with Cyber Security Services to utilize standard security strategies to protect sensitive data, systems, applications, and physical assets.
- Identify emerging technologies and technical trends and develop recommendations for future use while navigating vendor technology, licensing, and ownership changes
- Manage individual work tickets while actively developing relationships and communication to help maintain high service levels with customers
- Contribute to the development and maturity of formalized service management and departmental documentation
- Work with vendors on hardware and software procurement, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
- Provide executive-level status reports
- Lead and manage projects
- Understand and adhere to all related NERC CIP requirements as required
Education
- Completion of a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution that prepares the employee for the assignment.
Experience
Five (5) years of full-time experience actively engaged in virtualization engineering practice. Must demonstrate the successful accomplishment of work appropriate to the level of expertise required that meets the following minimum criteria.
- Minimum of 5 years experience implementing/supporting/troubleshooting VMWare virtualization stacks, including all associated hardware and software.
- Experience implementing and supporting various technology systems such as Splunk, BeyondTrust Password Managment, Cohesity Backup, Windows Server, Active Directory, ManageEngine Patch and Endpoint Management is desired.
- Experience supporting full-stack technology implementations, from network to business applications, is a plus.
- Experience evaluating security configurations to determine if unacceptable risks are appropriately mitigated.
- Experience establishing and evaluating best practices related to virtualization systems, operating systems and monitoring
Additional Information

- Knowledge of network architectures, TCP/IP, routing and switching
- Knowledge of control systems technologies such as Emerson, Foxboro, Allen-Bradley/Rockwell Automation, and GE is desirable.
