Job Details
The IT Consultant role demands strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and client relationship management skills. You will collaborate closely with clients and management to design, troubleshoot, and maintain technology solutions in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. In addition to supporting internal staff, you will oversee IT projects. While expertise in municipal systems is a plus, full-cycle project management experience in IT is essential.
Key Responsibilities:
Collaborate with staff to implement municipal technology applications (e.g., SCADA, AMR, GIS) and business software.
Interface regularly with clients and management, providing consultation and updates.
Monitor security advisories to ensure timely updates, patches, and preventive measures for IT security.
Maintain, troubleshoot, and update all IT equipment, hardware, and software.
Administer system firewalls and related security devices.
Ensure client satisfaction while maintaining budgets and schedules.
Develop and implement IT policies and procedures to enhance security and efficiency.
Stay updated on emerging technologies, particularly in cybersecurity, and recommend improvements.
Provide high-quality, detailed deliverables with strong attention to content and format.
Be available for local travel and 24/7 on-call network/server outage support, with quick response times.
Required Skills:
8+ years of experience as an IT Consultant.
Proficiency in Windows Operating Systems (10, 11) and Servers (2016/2019/2022).
Experience with Active Directory, Group Policy, and server virtualization (Microsoft/VMware).
Hands-on experience with wired and wireless network management, security, VPNs, and firewalls (Cisco, Meraki, Fortinet, Aruba).
Strong documentation and communication skills for both technical and non-technical audiences.
Exceptional organizational skills with attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, IT, or a related field.
Microsoft Certifications or equivalent credentials.
Expertise in Microsoft Cloud Services.
