Overview:The IS Mechanical Designer III will design mechanical systems, components, or assemblies using engineering principles.
Responsibilities:Specific responsibilities include:
• Works closely with project managers, engineers and contractors to create unique high-level concepts and designs for all assigned projects.
• Works closely with the team to ensure the successful execution of goals of all assigned projects.
• Conducts field surveys to identify existing equipment types and system capabilities.
• Produces, with limited supervision, design documents including drawings, system flow diagrams and architecture, wiring diagrams, construction details, and equipment scheduling.
• Delivers concepts and designs according to strict project deadlines.
• Contributes to all areas of the creative process and department.
• Handles complex issues and problems and refers only the most complex issues to higher-level staff.
• Provides leadership, coaching, and/or mentoring to team members. May act as a lead or first-level supervisor.
• Provides training to designer level staff on basic design principles and standards.
Required Education, Experience, and Qualifications
• Associate degree in HVAC Technology, Building Systems Engineering, Construction Management, or related field
• 4-6 years’ design experience
• Strong proficiency in AutoCAD and REVIT
• Strong technical skills
• Effective oral and written communications skills
• Vision and Creativity
• Ability to meet deadlines
• Planning skills
• Possesses working knowledge of the subject matter.
• Detail-oriented and willing to tackle various ongoing projects in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent multitasking skills, with the ability to perform duties outside of the scope of work when necessary.
Preferred Education, Experience, and Qualifications
• Bachelor of Science in Engineering degree
• Building Automation System design and sequence writing experience – Preferred systems include Siemens, JCI, Honeywell, Trane, Struxureware, and Tridium
• HVAC Design and Commissioning experience – Preferred systems include Chilled Water, Heating Water, Condenser Water, and Steam
• Higher Education and Healthcare design experience
Travel Requirements
10-25% of time will be spent traveling to job site(s)/office location.
