Mid-Atlantic Permanente Medical Group (MAPMG) invites applications for an IRB/Compliance Specialist to join our Legal department. This is a full-time opportunity that is fully remote. Candidates must reside in Washington D.C., Maryland, or Virginia, or be willing to relocate to one of these locations for consideration.

Reporting to the Chief Compliance Officer, the IRB/Compliance Specialist will support the activities of the organization’s Institutional Review Board (IRB), which is responsible for review and approval of human subjects research conducted within Kaiser Permanente of the Mid-Atlantic States, and the Mid-Atlantic Permanente Medical Group (MAPMG) Compliance Department. You will assist with the processing of IRB submissions and performs other tasks related to day-to-day operations and IRB administration. The IRB/Compliance Specialist will support MAPMG’s Compliance and/or Research Compliance programs by leading the administration of the annual compliance projects.
You can expect to:
- Oversee the onboarding and training for new research staff on human subjects protections and responsible research conduct
- Perform various tasks related to IRB submissions including, triaging, reviewing for completeness, and conducting validations
- Monitor the IRB inbox for issues that require attention (e.g., submission errors, expiration notices), and assist with creating and updating IRB forms, procedures, and policies as needed
- Support IRB meetings, including agenda creation, member communications, materials distribution, guest invitations, and meeting minute-taking
- Provide project management support for compliance projects, including the Annual Compliance Plan, Conflict of Interest, and Open Payments projects, and coordinates with other departments as needed
- Facilitate compliance investigations, adhering to corporate protocols and utilizing internal systems for intake, triage, tracking, and resolution of incidents, inquiries, and complaints
What is required:
- Bachelor’s degree in health/life sciences, or related field is required
- Minimum of one (1) year of relevant work experience is required; Experience in compliance within a healthcare organization is preferred
- Certification as a Certified IRB Professional (CIP) or Certified Healthcare Compliance (CHC) is preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams) is required
- Strong critical thinking, decision-making, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage and complete multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
- Outstanding organizational skills and attention to detail, ensuring effective prioritization and accomplishment of objectives under tight deadlines
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to write and speak clearly and professionally, and work collaboratively with others
- Candidates must either currently live in or be willing to relocate to the Washington D.C. metropolitan area
- Must provide documentation of the Covid vaccine 2-dose series (or J&J 1-dose) prior to October 1, 2023, or documentation for 1-dose of the most current Covid vaccine (Pfizer or Moderna) as a condition of employment
- Must provide documentation for the influenza vaccine as a condition of employment

The starting annual salary for this position ranges from $62,712.22 to $78,390.11 depending on circumstances including an applicant’s skills and qualifications, certain degrees and certifications, prior job experience, training, market data, and other relevant factors. In addition to the salary range above, MAPMG offers rich benefits that add substantial value to the total compensation package.
