INVENTORY SPECIALIST

Position Summary:
The Inventory Specialist plays a crucial role in maintaining the smooth operation of the office and laboratory by planning, coordinating, and purchasing all necessary supplies. This position involves a combination of administrative tasks, vendor interaction, and organizational responsibilities. The Inventory Buyer/Planner needs to maintain a strong inventory control policy and ensure inventory activities are a key driver of quality, cost efficiency and best practice within the organization.
* This position requires the incumbent to be on-site five days per week at the Alpharetta, GA. location to perform the duties and responsibilities outlined below.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Laboratory Supplies and Inventory:
- Monitor laboratory supplies and reorder as needed to ensure the availability of necessary materials.
- Monitor tracking of all laboratory shipments to ensure time delivery.
- Conduct general inventory reporting: Cycle-counting, balance on hands reports, daily consumption transactions, physical counts, expiration date checks.
- Review and file Certification of Analysis from StatLab
- Work with Accounts Payable and Receiving to resolve discrepancies in receipts and invoices.
- Drive cost savings and quality improvement projects.
- Train employees on Inventory Management Processes.
- Customer Supplies and Inventory:
- Order customer supplies based on recommendations from Customer Care Team and IT Team.
- Laboratory and Customer Supply Vendor Relationships:
- Effectively communicate with supply vendors in person, over the phone, and through email.
- Develop and enhance relationships with vendors.
- Serve as primary contact and foster positive relationships with vendors.
- Establish and maintain secondary vendors for supplies.
- Supplier Quality:
- Ensure inventory processes are compliant with CAP, CLIA, CLEP, and ISO 15189 guidelines.
- Maintain policies and procedures.
- Conduct annual Supplier Assessments.
- Maintain Approved Vendor List and Material List.
- Conduct Quarterly Business Reviews with top 3 vendors.
Qualifications & Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional qualifications in office administration or related fields are a plus.
- Previous experience in inventory management.
- Experience with FishBowl software.
- Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).

Summary:
The Inventory Specialist is a vital member of the operational team and is responsible for ensuring that the laboratory and office has all the necessary supplies needed to maintain operations. This role requires a strong understanding of the inventory management process, strong organizational skills, communication abilities, and attention to detail.
Time Commitment:
The role is a full-time onsite responsibility.
