About the Job
The Role
The Inventory Manager will be responsible for inventory fill rates, demand vs. supply, forecasting sales trends, accuracy, cycle counts and full counts of both trucks and warehouse.
Responsibilities
- Ensure inventory records are always accurate
- Complete cycle counts of trucks and warehouse as planned
- Inventory equipment monthly
- Manage the truck stocking/bin layout mapping
- Ensure PO’s match invoices for reconciliation
- Monitor inventory levels to ensure no stock outs and communicate items at risk
- Place purchase orders with suppliers.
- Track and follow up on backorders and items in shipping limbo
- Remove/monitor items with low or no usage from stock
- Remove/monitor obsolete items from stock
- Remove/monitor out of box items
- Generate sales analytics to measure item usage
- Understand and benchmark inventory turns and days.
- Maintain an accurate physical inventory
- Assist in monthly closing on financials as needed
- Participate in assessing the internal controls over the inventory to identify deficiencies and develop corrective action plans for continuous improvement
- Work with Warehouse Manager to ensure all inventory issues are handled quickly
- Manage relationships with all vendors for negotiation of price and to ensure excellent service.
- Responsible for initiating and leading initiatives related to inventory
- Forecast inventory needs by reviewing stock levels and SKU performance.
- Coordinate accurate and punctual inventory allocation by location
- Research new product lines
- Use knowledge of supply house product offering, best price, strengths, and locations to maximize efficiency and save the company money
- Optimize parts request process
- Buyback program for excess inventory, as needed
Competencies for Success
· General accounting concept knowledge
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office Products, Access, Word, and PowerPoint
· Advanced Excel knowledge
· Self-starter/resourceful - able to independently work, learn & plan with minimal guidance to drive tasks to conclusion
· Experience with inventory management software
· Strong interpersonal and communication skills for interacting with store teams, finance team and upper management
· Ability to use financial metrics to accurately read and diagnose business performance. The ability to use all levers to maximize key performance metric outputs
· Capable of learning on the fly with a focus on problem-solving
· A self-motivated leader who is accountable for one’s work
· Strong attention to detail, especially when dealing with data
· High degree of financial acumen
· High degree of action orientation and strong negotiation skills
