Ramboll is accepting applications for the Summer 2025 internship program at our offices located in Syracuse or Albany, NY. Each participant will be assigned a mentor who will guide them through project assignments. The program will provide internship participants with the opportunity to gain experience working in one or more practice areas. Our goal is to afford our interns experience with a variety of projects during the summer program to broaden their understanding an experience within their field of interest. The work environment will be both in the office and in the field.
In addition to hand-on environmental consulting experience, Syracuse/Albany office interns will also participate in a series of web-based interactive workshops along with the other Summer 2024 Ramboll interns across the U.S.
Qualified candidates will be contacted for interviews in a virtual setting. Interns will be paid on an hourly basis and will be overtime eligible. Housing and relocation expenses are the responsibility of the intern.

Your New Role
The successful candidates will work with multiple project managers in our office to help develop client deliverables (reports, permit applications and technical analyses). The types of projects and expected day-to-day tasks may include the following:
- Participate on project teams to evaluate remediation and environmental control technologies and develop plans for site remediation.
- Assist with project research, field work, and preliminary design calculations and analysis.
- Support preparation of remedial investigation/feasibility/design plans, special provisions, and cost estimates.
- Support preparation of engineering design drawings and technical specifications following design, construction, and government standards.
- Performing environmental field sampling including soil, sediment, and groundwater sampling.
- Participation in troubleshooting of remedial systems in operation, maintenance, and monitoring phase.
- Reviewing and summarizing regulatory requirements.
- Visitation of jobsites to gain field experience, broaden background, and develop practical engineering skills.
- Preparation or review of design deliverables using design software such as AutoCAD or GIS.
- May periodically assist Ramboll staff in the office with administrative functions; learn what it means to be an civil or environmental engineer/scientist and trusted advisor to our clients.
About You:

- Candidates should be working toward a B.S or M.S degree in Chemical, Civil, Geological, or Environmental Engineering; Environmental Sciences; Geology or Geological Sciences, and have an interest in pursuing a career in environmental/civil engineering or consulting.
- Candidates with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above are strongly preferred.
- The physical requirements of this position may include the need for climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing/sitting/walking, pushing/pulling, and lifting up to 40 lbs. In certain situations, this position may expose the candidate to extremes in weather (hot/cold); to high noise levels, and to hazards such as a proximity to moving machine parts and moving vehicles, electrical current and exposure to chemicals. Employees may be required to take specific training and to wear PPE on some occasions.
Required Skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication
- Basic proficiency with technical writing, office automation, software, spreadsheets, technology, and tools.
- Excellent organization and time management
- Ability to work independently and in a team setting
- Ability to obtain OSHA 40-hour training or have up to date 8-hour refresher a plus

Salary Transparency Statement
At Ramboll, your base pay is only part of your overall total compensation package. At the time of this posting, this role is likely to be compensated at an hourly rate between $22 and $25 per hour. Actual pay may be more or less than the posted range, depending on numerous factors, including experience, geographical location, internal equity, market conditions, education/training and skill level, and does not include bonuses, overtime, or other forms of compensation or benefits.
