Job Description:
Position: Medical Pediatric Nurse
Reports to: Medical Pediatric Nurse Manager
Summary: Provide specialized nursing care to children and adolescents with a variety of medical conditions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Patient Assessment: Conduct comprehensive assessments of pediatric patients.
- Care Planning: Develop and implement individualized care plans based on patient needs and diagnoses.
- Medication Management: Administer medications and monitor for side effects.
- Vital Signs Monitoring: Monitor vital signs and patient responses to interventions.
- Education: Educate patients and families about pediatric conditions and care.
- Collaboration: Collaborate with pediatricians, specialists, and other healthcare professionals.
Technical Skills:
- Monitoring Equipment: Proficiency in using various monitoring equipment, including cardiac monitors, pulse oximeters, and blood pressure machines.
- IV Therapy: Skill in administering intravenous fluids, medications, and blood products.
- Wound Care: Knowledge and experience in managing various types of wounds, including dressing changes and wound care techniques.
- Tracheostomy Care: Ability to care for patients with tracheostomies, including suctioning and tube care.
- Blood Transfusions: Proficiency in administering blood transfusions and monitoring for adverse reactions.
Qualifications:
- Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in the state of practice.
- Associate's degree in Nursing or equivalent.
- Strong clinical skills and knowledge of pediatric nursing.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
