International Affairs Associate

POSITION: International Affairs Associate, DSO (FT)
Effective immediately: (FT) International Affairs Associate, DSO in
Wilmington University's International Affairs Department New Castle.
Requirements: Bachelor's degree required. Minimum of two years'
experience. Must have excellent communication, customer service, and
organization skills. Must be detail-oriented and able to work with
diverse populations. Must be self-directed and able to make decisions
independently. Must be computer literate and proficient in Microsoft
Office products. Knowledge of Banner or other Microsoft-based Student
Information System preferred but not required. Certification as a
Designated School Official is preferred. Must maintain professionalism
and confidentiality in all situations. Certification as a Designated
School Official is preferred. Must demonstrate respect for diversity in
the workplace and a commitment to creating an inclusive and supportive
work environment that values the contributions of all employees.
Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
- Serve as a Designated School Official. This includes maintaining
accurate information in SEVIS about Wilmington University students
and managing records of all international students on OPT and STEM.
- Create, process, and maintain accurate records of current F-1
students on OPT/ STEM and their dependents in SEVIS. This includes
working in the university's SIS and SEVIS, processing I-20s, and
maintaining university compliance in SEVIS. Report and update all
employment changes while on OPT/STEM.
- Maintain and update all functions of the employer updates for
students who have been approved for Optional Practical Training by
USCIS. Communicate with students in reference to the latest USCIS
regulation changes.
- Maintain international student records in SEVIS by registering,
deferring, and maintaining all records each semester.
- Research trends within international higher education and stay
current with all regulations and guidelines.
- Perform other duties which may be required by the Director of
International Affairs.
- Maintain accurate and timely reports of international students with
updated information on their status, program, program, course
registration, and any changes to another status while studying in
the US. This includes utilizing ISSM to export files, work in pivot
tables and manipulate reports as needed to report out necessary
data.
- Communicate with students OPT/STEM on the appropriate workload to
maintain status. This involves coordination with the SEVIS, ISSM,
and Banner.
- Communicate deadlines with students who are within 30 days of the
end of the program or OPT/STEM dates via email, phone, and letter.
- Promote and foster an inclusive and diverse environment for all
students, faculty, and staff.
- Perform other duties which may be requested by the Director.
Hours of Employment: Generally, Monday Friday between 8:30 a.m.-
4:30 p.m. The incumbent must be flexible with their hours to meet the
needs of the department and the University. Some nights and/or weekends
may be required.
