Location: Owning Mills or Downtown Baltimore (Hybrid Schedule)
Pay Rate: Up to $45/hour (DOE)
Duration: 12 Months
Our client, a global investment management firm, is looking for a Internal Communications Specialist with at least 8 years of related work experience in Internal communications working in a corporate environment for a 40hour/week, 12 month contract role. You must work a hybrid schedule out of Owings Mills, MD.
In this role, the Internal Communications Specialist will be responsible for building communications plans, mechanisms, and forums to support associate translation and understanding of business strategy and goals. This position serves as a communications counsel, strategy support, communications service delivery and execution and is responsible for primarily providing internal communications support with a strong tie to the overall business unit communications strategy.
Internal Communications Specialist Responsibilities:
- Supports the development of segment leadership (segment leader and direct reports, if applicable), associate and internal messaging and message maps.
- Takes the lead on developing messaging (including idea generation as well as writing/drafting), with input and guidance from segment leader, lead team members, and other key stakeholders.
- Consults with key partners (segment leadership, General Manager, HR Business Partner, Corporate Communications, etc.) to develop messages to meet the overall objectives of the segment’s and firm’s associate communications strategy. Engages communications, marketing, and public relations peers and partners across the firm to share best practices, discuss special initiatives, align, and reinforce messaging where applicable.
- Responsible for the creation and oversight of segment communications forums including, but not limited to, all-associate meetings, leadership team and extended leadership team offsites, online forums (i.e., SharePoint, etc.)
- Manages relationships effectively within assigned segment (segment leader, segment lead team, HR Business Partner, etc.).
- Provide high level of consulting and client service – including ongoing comprehensive communications needs assessments, proactive idea generation, offering best practice solutions and communications support service to meet business needs, full implementation of communications solutions, and post-implementation assessment of impact and client satisfaction.
- Accountable for proactively bringing BU and firm highly effective, efficient, and innovative communications i.e., developing proactive story ideas; core messages; various communications vehicles; messaging and reinforcement strategies.
- Responsible for the full execution of the segment communications plan and fulfillment of the communications objectives.
- Execution may include partnership with other departments such as event planning, marketing, public relations, marketing services, etc. However accountability for segment –to-associate communications resides with the Communications Partner.
- Execution activities are broadly defined as establishing key messages, writing, video editing, development of communication forum agendas and content, etc.
- Bachelor’s degree with at least 8-10 years of related work experience; Internal communications experience in corporate environment
- Writing/content creation
- Strategic and consultative skills
- Strong communication and listening skills (able to interpret and synthesize complex messages appropriately for audiences)
