Job Summary/Purpose
The IT Communications Manager is primarily focused on the development and execution of IT strategies to inform, engage and align employees and business partners on IT’s strategy, objectives and initiatives. The role is responsible for developing or providing direction on messaging and communication channels and content that promote strategic direction and awareness, foster employee engagement and facilitate performance transparency for the organization. Through alignment and partnership with leaders, internal teams and project teams, IT communications will serve as the central source for communications and organizational change management and will provide guidance and oversight on key initiatives.
As one of the larger functions within the Technology and Business Services (TBS) organization, this role will also lead the development and execution of internal TBS communications in partnership with other communication leads across the organization to ensure consistent messaging and coordination across functions and promote a cohesive culture. For both TBS and IT, this role will partner and with Corporate Communications and Human Resource Business Partners (HRBPs) on a regular basis to ensure alignment on key efforts (e.g., Town Halls, employee engagement, organizational change, etc.)
The role is highly visible and will work with multiple stakeholders and span with IT, across TBS and the enterprise. This role will interact regularly with senior leadership and provide tactical and strategic leadership on multiple levels to enable the delivery of reliable, secure, predictable, and cost-effective IT services.
Job Duties/Responsibilities
- Identifies needs and opportunities for internal communications strategies and plans to effectively influence, inform, educate and engage using variety of media including electronic, video and printed collateral.
- Work closely with the IT lead team, IT and TBS leaders, and employees across functional groups to strategize, plan and implement high-quality, high-impact communications that advance the organization's mission and goals.
- Works closely with Corporate Communications to align branding and messaging and partners to develop and execute communication on behalf of the VP of Information Technology and, in some instances, the SVP of TBS.
- Works closely with and provides guidance and oversight for capital project related communications and change management activities to ensure successful rollout and adoption.
- Serve as key advisor in strategic planning to senior leadership relating to change adoption and benefits realization. Council project teams, business partners and others in the organization in change management practices to increase their effectiveness in driving sustainable change.
Minimum Requirements
Minimum education and experience needed
- Bachelor’s degree in mass communications, marketing, or business, or equivalent work experience.
- 7+ years of experience in strategic development and communications, project communications and change management.
Minimum knowledge, skills, and abilities needed
- Has experience or can support turning technical information or complex concepts into easy-to-understand content (e.g., articles, educational videos, power point)
- Ability to develop and communicate engagement metrics using data analytics, such as Politemail, and social media analytics, etc. to help inform communications strategies.
- Responsible for some graphic design, such as Canva.
- Supports survey development, execution/communications, and analysis in support of communications strategies and IT/TBS initiatives.
- Has experience or can support planning and facilitating leadership meetings and workshops.
- Excellent written and verbal communication
