Topco Associates is currently seeking a Internal Audit Supervisor for the Internal Audit team in Itasca, IL. This position will be a hybrid role, with the successful candidate conducting work in our Itasca office three days per week and virtually two days per week.

The Internal Audit Supervisor is responsible for conducting assigned financial and operational audit engagements as part of the overall Internal Audit plan and communicating engagement status and issues in a timely manner to the Head of Internal Audit. The Internal Audit Supervisor is also responsible for assisting with other audit and consulting projects and co-sourced engagements, as requested.
Responsibilities:- Conduct assigned financial and operational audit engagements from start to finish, including planning, developing internal audit scope and audit programs, performing internal audit procedures, summarizing audit observations and findings, and wrapping up the engagement, etc.
- Evaluate, assess, and make recommendations to help the organization improve the efficiency and effectiveness of various financial and operational processes and internal controls.
- Identify opportunities for using data analytics within internal audits and develop and maintain the department’s analytics approach.
- Communicate engagement status and other identified issues in a timely manner to the Internal Audit Senior Manager
- Organize and ensure all audit documentation is completed, signed off, and observations/findings are based upon actual findings
- Assist with other audit and consulting projects and co-sourced engagements, as requested, as well as all other related duties as assigned.
- Minimal travel – 1-3 weeks a year.
- Performs all other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
Technical skills:
- Proficient in PC software (e.g., Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Access) and data visualization tools (e.g. Tableau)
- Knowledgeable with Microsoft Visio application
Previous experience:
- 2+ years of public accounting and or private industry experience with knowledge of accounting, finance, and internal control areas
- Experience performing end-to-end operational audits, including identifying risks and controls, creating of risk and control matrices, flowcharting, drafting final audit reports, and developing meaningful observations and recommendations.
- Experience executing an annual/quarterly risk assessment
Other Qualifications:
- One or more relevant professional certifications (i.e., CPA, CIA, CISA, CFE) is highly preferred
- Good understanding of internal control concepts and experience in applying them to plan, perform, manage and report on the evaluation of various business processes/areas/functions.
- Ability to work independently, with limited required direction and guidance.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, to effectively present to peers and management
- Understanding of internal auditing standards
- Experience in performing multiple projects and working with varying team members
- Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to apply a high degree of personal integrity to business dealings and relationships on a daily basis
