:INTERNSHIP PROGRAM STRUCTURE:
Our internship program is designed to provide real-world experience that is directly related to your academic discipline and career goals and provide you a better understanding of career options for your degree. The intern will be collaborating within their Merchandising team along with any cross-functional partners to gain an understanding of the merchant functionalities.
Components of the program include:
- Hands-on experience working as a member of a specific department and team.
- Assigned projects to accelerate learning of key functions/process.
- Cross-functional departmental exposures within the corporate office.
- Tours and exposure to other business areas (e.g., stores, distribution center) to ensure full understanding of the company structure and strategy.
- The final intern project presentation will consist of delivering project findings and recommended course of action for the entire merchandising department, rather than concentrating on a single category.
RESPONSIBILITIES OF INTERNSHIP:
The Merchandising Intern will be responsible for assisting in brand management tasks, analyzing sales and understanding overall company and category strategies. A love for creativity, beauty and collaboration will be at the heart of all intern tasks.
Brand Management:
- Support lead merchant on all things pertaining to merchant/brand partner relationship
- Attend status calls with brands
- Develop Ulta-specific strategies to differentiate brands’ presence in the market
- Work on in-store shelf presentation
- Attend market meetings
Sales Reporting:
- Assist lead merchant with weekly reporting needs
- Analyze beauty category data to make informed business decisions
- Review key Ulta Beauty success metrics (productivity, turn, sales, etc.) and work collaboratively with the merchant team to make improvements
Print Advertising:
- Work with merchants to develop thematic layouts for allocated print ad space
- Communicate with vendors to secure samples for advertising
- Review proofs prior to printing
- Collaborate creatively on in-store secondary presentation plans in conjunction with merchant team
- Coordinate sample turn-in
Competitive Landscape Tracking:
- Create periodic social trend reports to share with the merchandising team
- Monitor online promotions with brands direct websites and competitor websites
REQUIREMENTS FOR CONSIDERATION:
- Must be a rising Junior or Senior enrolled in an accredited undergraduate university in the summer of 2025
- Strong academic record
- Previous work experience and involvement with on-campus organizations or activities.
- Strong communication and time management skills
- Experience working with Microsoft applications.
- Desire to work in a fast-paced environment and interact with management level personnel.
