Primary Duties & Responsibilities
Education & Experience
Must be enrolled in college-level courses with a major in an engineering program (industrial, optical or mechanical engineering preferred).
Interest in optics, optical fabrication and manufacturing and/or materials strongly desired. Experience with working in a team environment on a specific project a plus.
Skills
1. Strong verbal and written technical communication skills.
2. Computer skills in word processing and spreadsheet software, including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project.
3. Capable of reading engineering drawings and will have to familiarize with ANSI/ASME Y14.5M.
4. CAD/CAM skill is desired. Solidworks/Surfcam is preferred.
5. Familiarity with 3D printers is a plus.
6. Skills with basic machine shop and inspection equipment a plus (drilling machine, grinder, caliper, micrometer).
7. Knowledge of process design, development, and technical planning is desired.
8. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills is desired.
9. Strong organizational skills and attention to details required.
10. Willing to learn new skills and enthusiasm to experience a manufacturing environment
Working Conditions
Job generally operates in a professional office environment. Routine use of computers, phones, copy machines, ECT. Work on the production floor can range in a noise level from moderate to loud.

Safety Requirements
