Intern, Manufacturing Engineering - Coherent Corp.

We are seeking college summer interns to work at our East Granby CT location for twelve-week assignments / projects. As a Manufacturing Plant Intern, you will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a dynamic manufacturing environment. Under the guidance of experienced professionals, you will be exposed to various aspects of plant operations, including production processes and especially continuous improvement initiatives including:

• Participate in Continuous Improvement Projects
  • Work with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for process improvements and cost savings
  • Assist in implementing lean manufacturing principles, implement these improvements hands on, and participate in Kaizen events to drive operational efficiency
  • Document improvements made to our Work Instructions
• Complete Assigned Projects
  • Undertake specific projects or assignments related to plant operations, such as process optimization, data analysis, or documentation improvement
  • Present findings and recommendations to management upon completion of the project
  • Use an industry-standard root cause analysis tools (we will train on that) such as A3 Method and Ishikawa Diagram

Qualifications:

• Currently enrolled in a degree program in Engineering, Manufacturing, Industrial Technology, or related field.
• Strong interest in pursuing a career in manufacturing or operations.
• Basic understanding of manufacturing principles and processes is preferred.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
• Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving skills and a willingness to learn.
• Ability to follow instructions, take initiative, and manage time effectively.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) is a plus.
