How you'll help us Keep Climbing (overview & key responsibilities)
Delta’s Communications teams are seeking candidates who are motivated to contribute, curious to learn and energized to engage for internships at the airline’s headquarters in Atlanta. Interns will deepen their knowledge of a global consumer brand, directly support the efforts of employee and public communications teams and gain exposure to other departments, partners and experiences.
The Delta Communications internship will include:
- An introduction to the Delta culture and operation including exclusive, behind-the-scenes access to the inner workings of a global airline.
- Full integration into the Communications team, where interns will shadow and support internal and external communications campaigns.
- Direct interaction with Delta people who work in airports, in the operation, on-board, behind the scenes and in high-level leadership positions.
The Communications teams are seeking eight full-time interns for the Summer of 2024. Each intern will be assigned to support the following teams, based on their skillset, interests and aspirations:
Content and Platforms
- Support content management and publishing on Delta’s employee channel – Deltanet, and public news website – Delta News Hub.
- Develop multi-format storytelling efforts, in addition to support daily writing and editing work.
- Collaborate with the Platforms team on owned platforms to create engaging, sophisticated and reliable channels for the distribution of content and productivity enablement.
Policy Communications
- Develop assets and communications for media, government stakeholders and relevant third parties in support of Delta’s brand and policy goals.
- Interact with Delta’s policy and government affairs teams and learn the inner workings of a corporate government affairs office.
- Shadow, assist and lead efforts to support communications strategic and tactical efforts, both interns and external.
Media Relations and Brand Reputation
- Support strategies and tactics that shape Delta’s positioning and reputation through reactive and proactive tactics.
- Support in broader administrative duties, media inquiry response, media event staffing and other opportunities.
Customer Experience and Commercial Communications
- Support communications programs and strategies that build Delta’s reputation as a customer-centric airline driven by an innovative, sustainable and employee-focused culture.
- Contribute to the development of messages aimed at the next generation of customers and employees.
Employee Communications
- Support the overall employee communications strategy, employee storytelling campaigns, partner relationships, and corporate and HR announcements.
- Contribute to the development of communications strategies that strengthen Delta’s employer brand across internal audiences.
- Collaborate with employee communications teams and business partners to provide key updates to operational divisions.
What you need to succeed (minimum qualifications)
- Must be a current student enrolled in an accredited undergraduate degree program at a college and/or university.
- Must be able to commit to the duration of the internship.
- Must be able to work onsite in the Atlanta, GA office.
- Have a competitive GPA and be in good academic standing with your university.
- Delta Communications interns are expected to have strong written and oral communication skills, meet deadlines, be thorough, detail-oriented, communicate effectively with all levels of personnel and excited to contribute ideas and perspectives in a fast-paced environment.
- Intern candidates should have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
- Demonstrates that privacy is a priority when handling personal data.
- Embraces a diverse set of people, thinking and styles.
- Consistently makes safety and security, of self and others, the priority.
- Possesses a high school diploma, GED, or high school equivalency.
- Is at least 18 years of age and has authorization to work in the United States
What will give you a competitive edge (preferred qualifications)
- A current student enrolled in an accredited undergraduate Communications, Marketing, or Public Relations degree program at a college and/or university graduating between Fall 2025 and Summer 2026.
