Interim Director of Human Resources
Reports to: CEO
Duration: 3-6 Months
Location: Charlotte, North Carolina
(Hybrid)
Our respected client is seeking a highly skilled and accomplished HR leader to support the organization’s employees and management team during a period of transition. This interim engagement involves covering a sick leave absence, with responsibilities including coaching and guiding the team, as well as supporting the CEO and the Executive Leadership Team (ELT). To excel in this role, you should possess a strong background in HR, extensive experience in managing complex transformation projects, and a passion for tackling challenges.
Key Accountabilities:
- Partnering with the CEO and executive team to develop, lead, and manage the company's human capital strategy: The HR leader would work closely with the CEO and executive team to develop and implement the company's human capital strategy, ensuring that it aligns with the company's overall business objectives.
- Demonstrated track record in holding leaders to account through challenge, constructive engagement, and reliable execution. Proven ability to develop and communicate an HR vision and connect people with that vision.
- Strategic HR Leadership - Lead HR initiatives that unlock human potential and foster a culture of wellness, engagement, and creating an environment where people thrive. Provide guidance and support to other members of the executive team and to the company's operational managers, helping them to make informed people strategy decisions based on sound analysis.
- Talent Acquisition and Workforce Planning - Drive talent acquisition strategies that attract individuals passionate about excellence. Develop a workforce plan that anticipates future needs, ensuring the right people are in the right roles to support the organization's growth, culture, and purpose.
- Employee Relations and Engagement - Promote a culture of excellence, courage, and connection. Creating an environment where Team Members feel valued, respected, and motivated to contribute their best. Foster authentic relationships and open communication, ensuring that every team member feels heard and appreciated. Collaborate with management to create policies that promote a positive workplace culture. Manage employee relations, addressing conflicts and fostering a collaborative work environment.
- Total Rewards - Design compensation and benefits programs that align with the organization’s strategy. Offer benefits that energize and support physical, mental, and financial well-being, ensuring competitive and sustainable rewards.
- Performance Management - Drive a performance management culture that supports personal and professional growth, encourages excellence, and holds employees accountable. Use a strengths-based approach to help employees unlock their potential.
- Compliance and Risk Management - Maintain a commitment to integrity by ensuring HR policies and practices comply with legal standards and ethical principles. Proactively manage risks while fostering a safe and supportive environment.
- Inclusion - Lead initiatives that promote inclusion, creating a workplace where everyone feels they belong and can contribute fully.
- HR Data and Analytics - Utilize data and analytics to measure and guide continuous improvement and informed decision-making. Track key metrics related to engagement, retention, and well-being to assess the impact of HR programs on employees. Ensure proper management of HRIS system, Workday.
- HR Team Leadership - Inspire and develop the HR team, embodying the values of courage, integrity, and excellence. Cultivate an environment where HR team members are motivated, support one other, and grow. Drive continuous improvement of the HR function through the continuation and transformation of organization, process, and systems.
- Strong knowledge of HR compliance and legal requirements to build trust and ensure ethical practices.
- Demonstrated ability to manage Team Member relations with empathy and authenticity, contributing to a positive and collaborative environment.
- Expertise in implementing performance management tools that prioritize growth, feedback, and accountability while celebrating successes and learning from outcomes.
- Strong knowledge of HR compliance and legal requirements to build trust and ensure ethical practices.
- Proactive approach to managing risk, creating safe and supportive environments that prioritize the well-being of all Team Members.
- Ability to evaluate trends and derive insights that drive continuous improvement and strategic HR practices.
- Exceptional communication skills with the ability to engage with all levels of the organization and build strong relationships.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to make decisions that align with the organization’s values and long-term vision.
- Adept at navigating complex situations with a solution-oriented mindset that emphasizes caring, contribution, and positive impact.
Competencies and Requirements:
- Experience with Workday or other HRIS/HCM Implementation of these systems a definite asset.
- Strong knowledge of change management and conflict management techniques.
- In-depth experience with compensation (base, short and long term) including benchmarking and revamping plans a definite asset.
- Ability to manage multiple complexes matters simultaneously.
- Demonstrated experience in talent strategies and best practices.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization.
- Experience evaluating and developing training programs a definite asset.
- A proactive approach to problem-solving with strong decision-making capabilities.
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, Organizational Development, or a related field
- Minimum of 7-10 years of progressive HR experience, including at least 5 years in a leadership or strategic HR role.
- Proficiency in utilizing HR data and analytics to guide decision-making, track engagement, and measure the success of HR programs.
