About the Job
We are seeking an Interim Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to join our team, a leader who thrives under the guidance of the Hospital CEO and the Board of Directors, and works in alignment with our Vice President of Hospital Financial Operations. As a CFO, you will play a critical role in leading and overseeing our financial planning and operations, ensuring they align with our mission, vision, values, and strategic goals, all while complying with relevant laws and regulations.
Your responsibilities will include evaluating our financial position, issuing reports, directing financial planning, revenue cycle, payroll, and accounting practices, as well as overseeing treasury, budgeting, audit, tax, purchasing, real estate, and insurance activities. You will develop and implement financial policies and procedures, ensuring the safeguarding of assets and compliance with generally accepted accounting principles, and you'll ensure proper accountability and reporting to both federal and state agencies.
A significant part of your role involves fostering positive relationships and effective communication with financial institutions, community representatives, our medical staff, employees, volunteers, and board members, ensuring a collaborative and transparent working environment.
Major Responsibilities:
Ensure compliance with all governmental and regulatory body laws, regulations, and standards, maintaining all hospital accreditations and licensures.
Contribute to the strategic planning and implementation of initiatives for the facility's growth and service provision to the community.
Oversee sound financial management including budget preparation, risk management, financial controls, and effective negotiation of contracts.
Improve financial operations through analysis, problem-solving, and implementation of changes.
Foster a culture of communication, collaboration, and development within the team and with all stakeholders.
Lead and manage teams, ensuring the development of staff, addressing performance issues, and fostering a culture of excellence and accountability.
Requirements:
BS/BA degree in finance, accounting, business, or related field; CPA designation preferred, with a graduate-level degree being a plus.
5 - 7 years of progressive experience in Hospital Finance/Accounting, including CFO experience.
Demonstrated understanding and experience with hospital financial reporting, revenue cycle management, accounting, budgeting, and other financial operations.
Experience with MEDHOST and Athena preferred.
Skills and Knowledge:
In-depth knowledge of healthcare practices, financial management, and regulatory requirements.
Leadership, strategic management, change management, and excellent communication skills.
Ability to balance mission effectiveness with business results, fostering a customer service orientation.
Proficient in critical thinking, decision making, problem solving, and PC skills, including Microsoft Office.
