Interim Accounting Manager - Biotechnology
We are seeking candidates for an Interim Accounting Manager position with an industry leading biotechnology company located in Waltham, MA. Our client is looking for someone to handle the closing of the books for the second half of 2024, manage French tax matters, and ensure the company is prepared to close out 2024 by Q1 2025. The ideal candidate will have 10+ years of relevant experience in public accounting or auditing. French language skills is a plus. Qualified candidates who are able to work 100$ remote will be considered.
This is a 3–4-month contract that will pay $75/hr (depending one experience) within a 40-hour work week.

Responsibilities:
- Oversee and manage cash flow operations.
- Perform financial controls for the company’s France location.
- Implement and monitor financial and accounting processes.
- Ensure the accuracy and reliability of accounts within an international framework.
- Supervise and coordinate monthly and annual closing activities, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory standards.
- Oversee daily accounting tasks such as cash management, invoicing, supplier payments, asset management, and expense reports.
- Prepare and coordinate preliminary work for interim and annual financial statements.
- Handle tax and VAT declarations.
- Prepare consolidated financial statements for the French subsidiary.
- Contribute to the development and management of budgets.
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards, regulatory requirements, and internal policies.
- Oversee both internal and external audits.
- Supervise and assist external firms in preparing the annual research tax credit declaration.
- Identify and propose relevant grants for business initiatives.
- Maintain strong relationships with auditors, legal advisors, the board of directors, and other key stakeholders.
- Lead and manage the accounting team in France.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (or related field).
- Previous experience in public accounting or auditing.
- 10+ years of relevant experience.
- Experience in the biotech or pharmaceutical industry is a plus.
- Proficiency in accounting software (preferably SAP byDesign) and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Knowledge of research tax credits and VAT taxation.
