SUMMARY
The primary purpose of the Instrumentation Technician position is to provide highly skilled technical work involving electronic, electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic controls of typical state-of-the-art hospital facilities systems and equipment. Impacts the installation, maintenance and repair of Institutional electronic, electrical, mechanical and pneumatic controls and equipment (primarily HVAC and facility monitoring/control systems).
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Reads, draws and interprets electrical, pneumatic, mechanical and heating ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) schematics, one line diagrams and control sequence of operations. Programs microprocessors for initial commissioning, tune of control loops and calibration of analog inputs. Performs functions on live circuits and in operating controls enclosures. May install, troubleshoot and repair 120, 208, 240 and 480 volt controls and equipment per NEC guidelines. Investigates outages. May order materials and maintain inventory.
JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES
Work Plan & Documentation Interprets and works from blueprints, sketches and diagrams. Estimates cost of work and may order materials and maintain inventory. Discusses issues, concerns and process improvement options with Supervisor. Responsible for completing work order and asset documentation according to CMMS Standards. Provides accurate information on labor hrs & material used to complete the work, work preformed, notes any additional required work &/or asset information.
Preventive Maintenance Performs Preventive Maintenance on Instrumentation and Electrical equipment according to manufacturer's specifications and CMMS directed work.
Corrective Maintenance Programs microprocessors for initial commissioning, tune of control loops and calibration of analog inputs. Performs functions on live circuits and in operating controls enclosures. May install, troubleshoot and repair 120, 208, 240 and 480 volt controls and equipment per NEC guidelines. Holds a monthly meeting with BAS group to discuss issues and concerns & works closely with BAS group to resolve issues.
Team and Work Load Support Investigates outages, supports or preforms other work as necessary in the management the work load. Attends and participates in energy optimization meeting and other meetings pertaining to IT and process improvement.
On-Call The employee may be expected to be part of an on-call group, and when assigned this responsibility, will be compensated for that time. When on-call, the
employee must be available and be able to respond in accordance to policy. Periods of alert when Emergency Conditions may be expected are not considered on-call.
Essential Personnel This position is considered "essential personnel" in the event of suspension of normal operations due to inclement weather or other emergencies. They are required to perform duties as outlined in the Emergency Management Plans.
Incidental Work Other incidental or related duties as required.

High school diploma or equivalent. Four years of electronic, building automated systems and pneumatic controls experience to include two years of electrical experience. With Journeyman Electrician's license, two years of electronic, building automated systems and pneumatic controls experience to include one year of electrical experience.
