Job Overview
We are seeking an Instrumentation and Controls Engineer to support the design and integration of control systems for multi-discipline engineering projects. Operating in Houston's dynamic environment, the successful candidate will manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality project deliverables.
The Instrumentation and Controls Engineer will play a critical role in translating practical concepts into fully functional, commission-ready systems.
Responsibilities:
- Develop detailed design packages for instrumentation and control systems, including specifications, datasheets, and drawings.
- Perform instrument selection, sizing, and procurement to meet project and industry standards.
- Design and implement control system architectures, including PLC/DCS systems and HMI configurations.
- Collaborate with multi-discipline teams to ensure seamless integration of instrumentation and controls into overall project designs.
- Conduct site visits to assess existing systems and support installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting activities.
- Prepare technical reports, studies, and documentation to support project execution.
- Ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and regulations.
Key Skills:
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
- Prior experience in sweet and sour gas projects within an EPCM environment.
- Broad exposure to sweet and sour gas facility design and construction, encompassing field facilities (production pads, wells, and flowlines) and processing facilities (steam generation, bitumen production treatment, water and gas handling).
- Familiarity with technical specifications, codes, and regulatory requirements.
Education and Qualifications:
- A degree in Electrical, Instrumentation, or Control Systems Engineering (or equivalent).
- 5+ years of experience in instrumentation and controls engineering, preferably in the oil and gas or industrial sectors.
- Proficiency in control system design software and tools such as AutoCAD, AVEVA, or similar.
- Experience with programming and configuring PLC/DCS systems from vendors like Rockwell, Siemens, or Emerson.
- Strong understanding of industry standards (e.g., ISA, API, ASME).
- Excellent communication and organizational skills to manage multiple projects effectively.
- Professional Engineer (PE) designation or eligibility for registration is preferred.
