About the Opportunity
Seeking a motivated and skilled Instrumentation & Controls Engineer to join the team in Santa Clara, CA. This is a direct-hire, permanent role offering a competitive, negotiable base salary based on experience and licensing. Join a collaborative, laid-back team focused on life safety and mission-critical automation for the semiconductor and life sciences industries.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with programmers to develop instrumentation and control logic
- Analyze and interpret project documents, specs, and regulatory requirements, including CA Fire Code, NEC, and NFPA standards
- Use AutoCAD and Revit to develop system layouts, wiring schematics, and block diagrams
- Specify and select equipment such as gas detectors, alarms, PLCs, and related automation hardware
- Manage customer relationships, project scopes, deliverables, schedules, and budgets
- Coordinate field installation, testing, and inspections with the OAC team to ensure project success
- Troubleshoot and commission systems, emphasizing continuous improvement and customer satisfaction
Required Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline
- EIT certification with intent to obtain a California PE license
- ~ 5+ years of experience or equivalent certifications/work experience demonstrating a commitment to professional growth
- Proficiency with control system architecture and process controls
- Ability to create and edit AutoCAD drawings
- Knowledge of low-voltage systems and general load calculations
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
- PE license in California
- Experience programming PLCs and touchscreens (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, etc.)

Work Details
- Location: Santa Clara, CA
- Compensation: ~ +/- $100k--$130k (Higher Pay Negotiable DOE)
- Schedule: MondayFriday, normal business hours with flexibility
- Remote Work: Hybrid after onboarding (12 days per week)
- Travel: Minimal, local to the Bay Area
- Work Attire: Casualour team values comfort and collaboration
