What you'll do:•
Troubleshoots, diagnoses, repairs, maintains, and calibrates specialized emissions sampling equipment. Helps with integration of equipment with test cell and troubleshoots issues that arise. Participates in, and supports, Continuous Improvement and safety programs.
DUTIES
- Troubleshooting, Repair, Maintenance, and Calibration of Specialized Exhaust Emissions Equipment and sampling systems. Interface with vendor technical support and engineering as needed.
- Identify, maintain, and organize supplies of critical spare parts in support of emissions testing.
- Inspect, test, adjust, and repair electric, electronic, mechanical, pneumatic instruments and systems used to indicate, record, and control in a wide range of engine test systems.
- Maintains and calibrates instruments according to standards to ensure accuracy of recording and indicating function(s) for proper documentation and traceability. Replaces and repairs any defective equipment using a variety of tools and methods that include testing the accuracy of flowmeters, pressure gauges, temperature indicators, controllers, and emissions measuring equipment.
- Prepares schematic drawings, sketches, and reports to reflect changes or alterations made on instruments, circuits, and systems for proper documentation and traceability.
- Provide assistance to Engineering and Technical staff in troubleshooting lab issues as needed.
What it takes to be successful in this role:•
- High School Diploma or GED required; 2-year technical degree preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years experience with general instrumentation or an engine test lab environment
- Able to acquire knowledge of regulatory documents as relates to instrument performance.
- Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form
- Ability to make technical decisions and engineering judgments independently within
established parameters - Microsoft Office expertise highly desired.
- May be required to work off hours and overtime to meet testing demand. Responsible for complying with departmental ISO procedures.
- Carries out other related assignments as required by supervisor.
- Periodic exposure to heat and fumes. Occasionally will work in limited crawl space or close quarters. Requires use of ear plugs, safety shoes and glasses.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs
