Description
We are seeking a talented and highly motivated individual to join our team as an Instrument Service Engineer. This position is based on-site in Lexington, MA, and will report directly to the Senior Manager, Production Support and New Product Engineering.
Responsibilities
- Perform instrument maintenance including cleaning, preventative maintenance and instrument repairs.
- Observe and document instrument failures as they occur.
- Complete instrument QA records in accordance with SOP’s and good documentation practices.
- Maintain instrument run logs and record basic performance data.
- Load instruments following written protocols and instructions.
- Maintain a clean and sanitary work area in accordance with standard laboratory practice and procedures.
- Other engineering and technical projects as needed.
Skills and Experience
- B.S. in Mechanical or Biomechanical Engineering and 1+ years of work experience, or 4+ years of work experience as an electro-mechanical technician.
- Must have mechanical aptitude and excellent attention to detail.
- Experience or understanding of fluidics, motion control, and thermal systems as well as electro-mechanical components for these systems is preferred.
- Basic bio lab skills such as safety, pipetting, sample handling is a plus.
- Must be comfortable handling blood samples.
- Experience working in an FDA-regulated environment a plus.
- Excellent organizational, recordkeeping and communication skills (verbal and written).
- Experience using Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, etc.) required.
- Must have a strong work ethic and commitment to generating high quality work under tight deadlines.
- Self starter and able to work in a fast-paced environment within a matrix organization.
- Must have excellent observational skills and a collaborative, proactive and positive attitude.
