- This is a Faculty A, 9-month (168 duty day) position.

Salary and Benefits: This is a full-time, benefited Faculty A, 3 level position. Starting salary range: $61,247.00 - $71,454.00/annually, depending upon experience.

Job Summary: Core responsibilities include:
The Instructor, Animal Science and Activity Coach position is a full-time benefited position responsible for instruction and development of curriculum in the School of Business, Agriculture, and Technical Studies. As a member of the Agriculture and Equine team, this position will work closely with the other faculty to build a robust curriculum for our students. In addition to the standard faculty duties this position is also responsible for the instruction, management, and coaching of an Activity Team (Livestock Judging).

Essential Functions:Essential Functions: – this position is Exempt , or is not eligible for compensatory or overtime pay provisions of the FLSA. This listing of essential duties is not all-inclusive, but representative, other duties may be assigned.
- Deliver quality instruction by preparing and implementing effective and inclusive teaching strategies and supportive learning activities as supported by student outcomes.
- Develop, maintain, and coach all activities associated with facilitating student competition in the assigned agriculture team. Coaching includes but is not limited to the following duties:
- Team Coaching and Coordination
- Team Administration and Recruitment
- Award Scholarships and work with Financial Aid to manage the awarding of funds.
- Maintain a safe learning environment through compliance with all college and department safety policies and regulations.
- Report and respond to any injuries to students, employees, or livestock through notification of the necessary department(s) and supervisor(s)
- Provide service to the College by engaging in activities that support, stimulate and sustain the institution and community.
- Engage in professional development to maintain relevancy in field through research, publications, presentations, professional association memberships, and conference attendance.
- Other tasks that may be assigned based on contemporary institutional need.

Physical/Mental Demands:
- To successfully perform the essential functions of this position, an employee must be able to maintain appropriate composure and necessary confidentiality with regard to both past and current employee, student, and donor data; documents; issues; etc., and respect privacy needs of all employees, students, and donors
- The ability to comply with highly inflexible deadlines is required to successfully perform the essential functions of this position; there will be multiple occurrences of sudden, urgent task completion required
- While performing the essential functions of this position a variable work schedule may be required including long work days, evenings, and weekends as needed
- There may be occurrences of interacting with employees and/or students, past employees and/or students, members of the general public, and others who express opinions, may exhibit strong emotions, which will require the employee to interact professionally, diplomatically, and appropriately in such situations
- While performing the essential duties of this position, an employee would frequently be required to move around the assigned work areas as well as within hallways, meeting rooms, arena, stalls, and other parts of the campus facilities
- There may be multiple/daily instances of prolonged sitting, standing, climbing, kneeling, prolonged horseback riding, and personal computer use, which would include keyboard and/or mouse usage as well as viewing a computer monitor
- An employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 15 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds to perform essential position functions. Assisted lift technique is required for all lifts over 50 pounds
- Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus
- The overall work environment requires the mental ability to shift focal point quickly due to interruptions; an employee must be able to mentally track multiple projects and tasking as well
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate; however, there may be unexpected instances of somewhat loud sounds
- Must be able to travel between the college external sites to facilitate coaching responsibilities
- Function in an environment with substantial animal exposure and without any allergic reactions
- Ability to drive for extended periods of time during day and night conditions

Qualifications:Education and Experience Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Agriculture, or related discipline from a regionally accredited institution
- Professional knowledge and ability within the discipline of assigned instruction
- Two years of experience in agriculture or related industry work
- Valid driver’s license and ability to meet the college’s insurance eligibility requirements.
- One year of instructional/teaching experience
- Demonstrated ability to handle livestock.
All LCCC Faculty are required to meet the minimum faculty qualifications as defined within the College’s Administrative Procedure 2.7P.
Preferred Qualifications
- PhD degree in Agriculture, or related discipline from a regionally accredited institution
- Experience with web-based learning management systems
- Willingness and ability to apply technology to problem solving in equine contexts
- Two or more years of college-level teaching experience
- Two or more years of work experience in an applied field
