Instructional Designer
Job Summary
The Instructional Designer creates learner-centered training and job aids to address training needs and deliver a learning experience that is enjoyable, engaging, relevant, and informative. This position reports to the Director of Talent Enhancement within the University Advancement office and collaborates with various teams to develop and deliver training to University of Utah advancement staff. Training curriculum includes the Unite Customer RelationshipManagement (CRM) system (Salesforce), advancement policies and procedures, and best practices of University Advancement.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs) to update existing training and create new training solutions
- Design and deploy effective and engaging learning experiences and solutions
- Applies established systematic instructional design methods to provide training solutions and products
- Identifies and clarifies instructional objectives.
- Assesses facilitator teaching style(s) and learner audience and applies appropriate learning theory, instructional design theory, and/or technology to instructional solution
- Documents progression of assigned tasks for review by leadership, collaborators, and others
- Conduct annual training assignment reviews with area University Advancement leadership and/or SMEs to assist in ensuring training assignments are accurate for each group
- Identifies areas for improvement in existing training products, recommends solutions to improve effectiveness, and employs strategies to integrate recommended changes
- Maintains professional Instructional Design competencies, trends, and tools
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management or related area plus two years of training experience or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience).
- Supervisory, project management and training development skills required. Demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills also required.
- B.S. in Instructional Design, Adult Education or related degree.
- 5 years related experience
- Master’s Degree in Instructional Design, Adult Education or related degree.
- 3 years related experience
