Job Title : Instructional Designer
Location : Lake Forest, IL 60045(Onsite Role)
Contract Duration : 12+ Months Contract with possibility to extend
Job Description:
- Working in the training team skilled in instructional design, learning strategy and implementation
- Leading or participating in all aspects of the industry-standard methodology for assessing, designing, developing, implementing, and evaluating content.
- Creating instructor-led courses (virtual and in-person), eLearning, and other instructional materials that simplify complex concepts, present information attractively, and maximize information retention and knowledge transfer.
- Collaborating openly and effectively with people at all levels in the organization.
- Maintain the Learning Management System by assigning training and processing profile updates.
What You’ll Work On
- Lead instructional and technical content analysis activities. Understand the business needs and purpose of the content (based on user needs) prior to development.
- Work with Trainers and other SMEs to gather knowledge for efficient design and development including scheduling and attending knowledge transfer.
- Develop in-person instructor-led, virtual instructor-led, and eLearning content, including but not limited to: CBT’s, On-the-job training templates and Instructor led content.
- Ensure design consistency, cross-functionality, and reusable content aligned with Abbott’s strategy and brand.
- Apply tested instructional design theories, practice, and methods that maximize information retention and knowledge transfer.
- Lead meetings with stakeholders, SMEs, and other relevant parties.
- Manage project timelines and drive initiatives to ensure on-time delivery.
- Manage multiple priorities with the ability to assess and adjust quickly to the changing scope of the business.
- Ensure the quality and accuracy of all training materials a by facilitating successful review processes as needed on a continual basis.
- Other related duties as assigned, such as, Learning strategy development consulting with cross functional team.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in Education, Instructional Design, or related field.
- 2 or more years of relevant work experience, preferably as an instructional designer, educational technologist, eLearning developer, and Learning Management System (LMS), specifically, ISOtrain, expertise.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Understanding of the required elements for different training delivery methods, like instructor-led training content, point-of-need content, general communications, etc. (High proficiency)
- Experience using PowerPoint, Articulate Storyline, or similar design and development software. (High proficiency)
- Knowledge of learning theories and instructional design models. (High proficiency)
- Written and oral communication skills. (High proficiency)
- Collaboration and interpersonal skills – the role will frequently interact stakeholders and other team members, so collaboration and open communication is essential. (High proficiency)
- Device Manufacture and Warehouse System knowledge (Preferred)
