Nevada City School of the Arts (NCSOTA), a TK-8 charter school in operation since 1994, is seeking a dynamic, culturally aware, stimulating, and highly qualified Instructional Assistant to join our team.
SCHEDULE: 2024-25 School Year - Full-time (38 hours per week)
WAGE: $17.10 - $24.38 per hour, depending on experience
SUMMARY: The instructional assistant works directly with the general education teachers and assists the teachers to provide supervision and instruction along with monitoring students within a variety of school environments. The After-School Caregiver will assist the Afterschool Care Director with the implementation of a quality program that enriches the students academically, socially, emotionally, and physically. The After-School Caregiver will maintain a safe and educational learning environment for young children by successfully overseeing daily program activities. Daily expectations include: leading children in table activities, supervising snack and outdoor play, assisting children with day to day needs, maintaining a clean environment, leading group activities, and teaching the programs that are created by the Afterschool Care Director.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
â— Supports the school's academic program by assisting students where needed and the involvement of families in afterschool care programs and activities
â— Performs record keeping and basic clerical functions (copying, grading, etc.) to support teachers in maintaining student records and providing classroom materials.
â— Monitors and supports individual students with projects assigned by the classroom teacher.
â— Provides supervision of students during snack, recess, and lunch time for the purposes of providing a safe environment for the students.
â— Monitors and supervises student behavior within a variety of school environments (e.g., classroom, playground, restrooms, and music/dance room) for the purpose of providing for the safety and welfare of the students.
â— Inspects and monitors students outside play environment for the purpose of assuring the safety of students and assisting in the maintenance of outside play equipment.
â— Reports observations and incidents of student behavior requiring disciplinary measures to teachers or the School Director.

â— Confers with teachers, parents, and/or other school personnel for the purpose of assisting in evaluating student progress and the implementation of student objectives.
â— Participates in Site Council and staff meetings as needed.
â— Assists other personnel as may be required for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities.
â— Performs conflict resolution using talk it outs, etc.
â— Abide by all personnel policies and procedures adopted by NCSOTA and the At-Will Agreement
â— Works with the Afterschool Care Director to ensure that the after school program remains consistent with school philosophy
â— Works with the Afterschool Care Director to create an atmosphere of high expectations for student behavior and responsibility
â— Adheres to the School Compact in interpersonal relationships with students, families and staff
â— Other duties as assigned

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, LICENSURE
â— High school diploma or equivalent required
â— Minimum 2 years working with children, preferably in a school setting
â— Conflict resolution training a plus
OTHER REQUIREMENTS: These requirements must be met prior to beginning employment and will be requested upon job offer acceptance.
â— Fingerprint and Background clearance
â— Valid Tuberculosis clearance and every four years thereafter
â— CPR/First Aid Certification within 45 days of employment and every two years thereafter
