Term: Ten (10) month position, salaried

POSITION SUMMARY AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Instructional Assistant performs duties that are instructional in nature or deliver direct services to students or parents. Serves in a position for which a teacher or another professional has ultimate responsibility for the design and implementation of educational programs and services.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Discussing assigned duties with classroom teachers in order to coordinate instructional efforts
- Preparing lesson materials, bulletin board displays, exhibits, equipment, and demonstrations
- Present subject matter to students under the direction and guidance of teachers, using lectures, discussions, or supervised role-playing methods
- Tutor and assist children individually or in small groups in order to help them master assignments and to reinforce learning concepts presented by teachers.
- Supervise students in classrooms, halls, cafeterias, school yards, and gymnasiums, or on field trips
- Assists in administering diagnostic and other tests
- Monitors and reports behavior of students according to approved procedures; reports progress regarding student performance and behavior
- Performs routine clerical duties such as preparation of instructional and classroom materials; operates copy machines; maintains classroom records; maintains attendance records
- Provides support to the teacher by setting up work areas, displays and exhibits, operating audiovisual equipment, operating educational training equipment and distributing and collecting papers and supplies.
- Confers, as needed, with teachers concerning programs and materials to meet student needs
- Assist students by providing proper examples, emotional support, a friendly attitude and general guidance
QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum of an Associate's degree or a minimum of 18 college credits completed
- Prefer a minimum of two years experience in an educational setting
- Knowledge of office software and experience using computers
- Ability to work with children, adults, and parents
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize duties required
