Installation Technician
Saint Paul, MN
Pay Rate: $23.00-$32.00 / Hourly Based on experience
As an Installation Technician, typically working Monday-Friday 7am-3:30pm, you will build various types of vocational trucks through assembly, hydraulic, 12v electrical and fabrication skills. Builds are designed and communicated via project managers through meetings, job tasks, drawings, SOP’s (Standards Operating Procedures) and quality inspection processes. On-the-job and factory training will be provided to help you be successful in this exciting role.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Build vocational trucks through assembly, hydraulic 12v electric and fabrication skills
- Read blueprints, diagrams and instructions
- Follow installation procedures and established standards
- Attend pre-install meetings
- Accurately read required measuring tools (caliper, tape measure, square, etc.)
- Read hydraulic schematics Hose and fitting assembly, routing and plumbing
- Pressure setting and testing 12v
- Read electric schematics
- Wire harness assembly, routing and terminating
- System setup and testing
- Fabrication and welding (minor)
- Weld in various positions: vertical, flat, overhead, etc.
- Use appropriate settings on welder for proper metal thickness
- Use welding blankets on truck cab windows
- Clean weld spatter and welding slag
- Aluminum welding
- Build things square and to proper size per diagrams
- Perform minor welding required for assembly
- Weld in various positions: vertical, flat, overhead, etc.
- Use appropriate settings on welder for proper metal thickness

- Aluminum welding Form metals for use on truck equipment installations
- Utilize various power tools as needed for builds Drill, impact wrench, air ratchet, grinders, iron worker, etc.
- Utilize time tracking system Make recommendations for changes in procedure or job functions that are conceived to be in the general interest
- Perform other job related duties assigned by management
Requirements
- Technical understanding of hydraulics, electrical and primary functions of a broad range of equipment used in our industry
- Strong mechanical aptitude
- Knowledge of basic hydraulics and 12-volt electrical systems Knowledge of wiring stop/start systems and ability to use programmer
- Knowledge of sizes of fittings and hydraulic hoses
- Able to operate saw for cutting steel
- Able to operate plasma cutter
- Able to use oxygen/acetylene torch
- Ability to adjust pressures and reliefs
- Basic math skills
- Basic welding and fabrication ability
- Ability to read and understand electrical and hydraulic schematics
- Mechanical design and/or practical experience in hydraulics, structural or mechanical layout
- High level of Mechanical Aptitude:
- Ability to understand fundamentals of mechanical systems as related to the commercial truck industry
- Technical college degree desired, or structured on-the-job training program
- successfully completed 2-5 years’ experience in-field service of heavy equipment is desired
