The Hardware Installation Technician is responsible for the mechanical and electrical installation and upgrading of Elekta’s Treatment Delivery Solutions at customer sites. The primary location will be the country/ region the person currently residing with opportunities to perform installations in other countries. All work will be assigned to the technician by the Hardware Installation Manager according to the project schedule. Hardware Installation Technicians will work as part of a team and or solo onsite. Once at the customers site the technicians are expected to manage and co-ordinate all activities associated with the assigned project including liaison with the local rigging team, local service Engineers, Distributor Management, Project Management, hospital physicists and technicians, site contractors and relevant departments within Elekta.
The installation work involves a diverse skill set including fault finding complex electronic systems, water systems, pressurized gas systems and mechanical assembly. As the technicians are expected to manage their own environment at a remote location, there is a need to be able to demonstrate competence in all of these key areas.
All work is to be carried out in accordance with Elekta’s safety instructions and procedures. Any issues or problems that may adversely affect the project, its ongoing reliability or the safety of any personnel must be reported to the Hardware Installation Manager. Training and assessments are carried out both in classrooms and on site as necessary. Hardware Installation Technicians will not be deemed to be competent to install a product until the Installation Manager together with the Installation Governance Team has confirmed that the relevant competences and skill have been achieved. Hardware Installation Technicians with the relevant knowledge and experience will be expected to guide and assess other technicians on site and advise the Installation Manager and Installation Governance team accordingly.
Upon completion of the Phase 1 installation, the Hardware Installation Technicians are required to hand the site over to a Hardware Installation Engineer for Phase 2 of the installation. You will be required to complete and submit the relevant reports according to QA procedures. When not on site, the technician is to complete other tasks as directed by the Installation Manager. The technician will also be expected to develop Phase 2 skill sets and abilities.
The US base salary range for this position is 50,000-$75,000

Responsibilities –
Install, without supervision, all systems within the product portfolio to the required specification and quality within the project timescales.
Complete mechanical and electrical, phase 1 installation of Elekta Linear Accelerators, up to the point of powering on the machine for the first time.
Completion of installation documentation and handing over to hardware installation engineer for the completion of phase 2 installation
Develop and work towards phase 2 installation certification.
Meet all Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) of Order Fulfilment Hardware Installation for your position
Submit timely and accurately; timesheets, expense reports, film badges, and all job required administrative duties.
Operate in accordance with the Elekta quality system and complete the administration requirements of the role in a timely and accurate manner
Manage own workload
Provide every customer with high quality service and attention throughout the installation process
Uphold the Elekta’s philosophy and all policies and procedures by maintaining appropriate controls to assure full compliance with applicable laws and regulations, thereby fulfilling legal responsibilities and enhancing the quality of our organization.
Engender and support Elekta values and represent Elekta in a professional and positive manner
Follow at all times Elekta’s quality and safety policies
Be prepared to work as required at times and locations dictated by the needs of Elekta and the customer
Provide feedback to the Installation Manager regarding any issues, solutions or opportunities which may need to be communicated to other parts of the organization
Identify and implement improvements that enhances the customer’s satisfaction with Elekta
Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of all Elekta products in the portfolio
Provide phase 1 training to other staff members once certified if needed
Relevant Knowledge, skills and competencies -
Preferred Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience preferably in Electronics, Mechanics or Mechanical Engineering, or an associated discipline.
Minimum of 3 years in a related engineering discipline or field service experience on Elekta equipment or similar required
Mechanical Theory background. Proficiency in the use of test equipment equipment (eg Oscilloscopes, KVP Meters, Dranitz ) and hand tools including is required.
Ability to solder in accordance to standards and proven fault-finding skills necessary.
Preferred experience in IT environments, troubleshooting and setting up computers and simple local networks.
Employees must be competent in verbal and written English language as a minimum.
Highly motivated, dynamic, have good leadership skills and be a good problem solver
Proven site management skills
Strong customer focus and have excellent customer service skills required
An excellent communicator at all levels, Written and verbal output shall be concise and accurate
Ability to represent the organization in a professional and positive manner.
Must be willing to travel as required and work independently.
Must reside within 1 hour of a major airport with ability for international connections.
Must be able to travel 95% domestically and internationally. Anticipating possible extended amounts of time away or short stays at home.
Must maintain an active driver’s license in good standing with 7 years DMV Drivers History report in U.S.
Possess a passport for international travel.
