Salary Range $65,000 - $130,000 per year
JOB SUMMARY:
The Inside Sales Representative will assist walk-in and prospective clients. Contact and develop a positive relationship with assigned clientele, generate sales leads and refer leads to appropriate personnel. Role will provide cost effective solutions to clients, initiate marketing programs to develop sales leads and participate in client events.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Effectively market and communicate offerings and campaigns that position Empire as the clear Product and Support choice.
• Handle all walk-in clients and prospective clients.
• Generate and manage qualified leads. Pass qualified leads to appropriate sales personnel to pursue the opportunity.
• Provide feedback internally to drive change sufficient to meet market demands and provide viable client solutions.
• Sell internal goods and services as solutions that assist clients in lowering their equipment owning and operating costs.
• Effectively manage (contact information, machine population, opportunities, etc.) current client call list while seeking out and adding new clients as required in designated territory.
• Establish rapport with client and territory (including financial status and past sales volume) well enough to forecast growth potential, select target accounts, and identify need for alternative solutions.
• Manage and participate in client events, ex. Demo days, client tours, etc.
• Search and identify Empire Products and Services opportunities.
• Work safely at all times. Adhere to all applicable safety policies. Comply with all company policies, procedures, and standards.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Host clients to inspect machines/repairs already quoted by a PSSR/Account Manager.
• Maintain an understanding of basic operation and applications for Caterpillar and Allied products.
• Become proficient in the use of the Empire Quoting Systems.
• Become proficient in the use of Sales Link, other industry specific software tools and the Caterpillar website to secure technical specifications and performance information of all Caterpillar products.
• Maintain an understanding of the merchandising programs and finance terms to be able to accurately quote over the phone or while meeting with a client.
• Work within and promote corporate values.
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
• Sufficient computer skills to utilize Empire’s internal and external software programs.
• Must have interpersonal skills sufficient to work cooperatively with people and to execute transactions.
• Must have ability to develop working knowledge of Caterpillar and competitive construction equipment model designations and application.
• Must have ability to comprehend equipment specifications, price lists, catalogs and common industry publications and reference material.
• Must have ability to develop the mechanical aptitude sufficient to relate to mechanical applications, failures, etc. and communicate with others that information.
• Must have effective, pleasant verbal communication skills.
• Must perform common sales calculations quickly and accurately.
• Must have ability to develop an in-depth knowledge of entire Caterpillar product line and applications.
• Must have ability to develop an in-depth knowledge of related operating department policies and procedures.
• Must have ability to develop an in-depth knowledge of EMPIRE’s operating department’s functions.
• Consistent attendance.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
• High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
• College degree in Industrial/Engine manufacturing or related field preferred.
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience in related field or equivalent technical background.
• Must be able to communicate (speak, read, comprehend, write) in English.
