Responsibilities
*This position is open to multiple U.S. locations. Preferably near a U.S. HW Kaufman office location.*
Responsible for underwriting Excess & Surplus (E&S) Property business written via Atain Insurance issued to a nationwide wholesaler network.
- Underwrite certain types of insurance that, due to size or complexity, are required by Atain to be written outside of binding authority facilities granted to agents; this will include evaluating, classifying and rating each risk to determine acceptability, coverage and pricing
- Build and nurture relationships with brokers, agents and internal teams to drive business growth and retention
- Mentor and train Assistant Underwriters
- Collaborate with underwriting team and management to assess and price risks effectively while maintaining profitability targets
- Manage aggregate reporting in CAT focused areas
- Provide exceptional customer services by responding to inquiries, resolving issues, and delivering timely underwriting decisions
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or the equivalent in related work experience
- Minimum 5 years of Property Excess and Surplus Lines underwriting experience at an E&S Carrier
- Thorough knowledge of Property insurance products and managing CAT Aggregates
- Self-starter with a demonstrated history of proactive performance
- Detail-oriented service professional with the ability to communicate effectively with clients
- Proven track record of building and managing relationships with brokers and agents.
- Ability to travel
