SUMMARY:
The Inside Sales Representative is responsible for being a liaison between customers and a variety of
internal business units (operations, quality, logistics, credit, etc.), responding to customer quotes in a
manner consistent with business objectives and enters customer orders. Additional responsibilities
include the monitoring of progress of customer orders, receiving and communicating updates, issues or
delays to the customer, advocating internally for the customer to anticipate issues in order to minimize
disruption and ensure customer expectations are satisfied. The Inside Sales Representative monitors
inventory levels to anticipate availability issues, contributes to warehouse efficiency, achieves sales
objectives and maximize shipments. Responsibilities also include developing strong customer
relationships to ensure a positive customer experience and capitalize on sales opportunities, and
collecting and sharing customer, market, and industry information and intelligence internally.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Understands established business objectives and how inside sales contributes to the
achievement of those business objectives. Understands the roles of internal business units
(operations, quality, logistics, credit, etc.) and works and collaborates with those units to
enhance the customer experience.
2. Primarily responsible for lead generation and customer growth in assigned customer base, with
responsibility for meeting assigned sales tonnage goals.
3. Provides to customers requested quotes in a manner that is consistent with established
objectives related to timeliness, pricing, terms, and otherwise.
4. Enters customer orders accurately, timely and consistent with customer and business
requirements. Identifies and, when appropriate, capitalizes on customer sales opportunities by
initiating inquiries, sharing information or otherwise and identifies opportunities for
improvement to the customer experience, internal business processes, or otherwise.
5. Works closely with territory teams, Regional Sale Managers, and Sale Directors and make
decisions and judgment calls in the absence of management.
6. Collaborates and coordinates with internal business units to monitor the status and progress of
customer orders. Anticipates issues and possible delays and works to resolve those issues.
7. Receives customer issues, complaints or other problems and works to diffuse and manage them.
Ensures those that can contribute to resolution are included in efforts to achieve resolution.
8. Develops strong and enduring customer relationships through clear, timely and effective
communication; accurate information; and necessary and timely follow-up – internally and
externally.
9. Seeks and collects customer, market and industry information and institutionalizes that
information whenever possible. Understanding the steel market, as well as the territory

specifics around price, freight, and competitive advantages will aide in the success of the
relationships with your customers.
10. Actively participate in inside sales meetings, territory meetings, and project teams.
11. Other duties as assigned by management.
REQUIREMENTS:
1. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including excellent listening and negotiation
skills. Must be able to effectively communicate at all levels.
2. Ability to work collaboratively with multiple teams to ensure constructive and productive
business relationships.
3. Ability to multi-task and prioritize with minimum supervision.
4. Outstanding problem-solving and analytical skills.
5. Ability to remain calm, focused and effective under critical deadlines in a fast-paced
environment. Excellent interpersonal skills to negotiate, reconcile differences, and collaborate.
6. Ability to understand and effectively use computerized business systems and other technology
and business platforms, including ERP and CRM software.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Associate degree or equivalent experience preferred.
2. At least 2-3 years of account management, inside sales or customer service experience is
required; steel or manufacturing industry experience preferred.
