ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
The Inside Sales Manager (ISM) is responsible for implementing Sierra Instruments' lead generation process, supporting national and regional sales managers, sales representatives, and distributors as needed. The ISM will collaborate with sales applications engineers on all technical aspects of pre-sale opportunities and ensure all new sales orders meet established terms and conditions. The ISM will have the ability to negotiate pricing, terms, conditions, and delivery expectations directly with customers/buyers. The ISM will assist and maintain sales representative contracts, commission schedules, and territories as necessary. The ISM will be a driving force in meeting all sales and profitability goals for the TASi Gas Flow division.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Qualifies, distributes and manages all new leads in collaboration with National and Regional Sales Managers, Sales Representatives, and Distributors.
- Negotiate pre-sales order terms and conditions related to payment terms, shipment terms, warranties, and other liabilities as noted on an order-by-order basis.
- Maximize sales volume, profitability, and market penetration of the business units' markets through management, administration, and performance of sales activities.
- Ensures customer satisfaction and directs resources as required to remedy any identified customer concerns.
- Assists Sales Management in the implementation of regional selling strategies, support regional sales strategies, plans, and all related follow-up actions.
- Identify opportunities for business improvement.
- Maintain updated sales opportunities and provide frequent sales forecasts upon request, as needed.
- Supports the Sales Channel network via the NSMs and RSMs and ensures that the Sales Channel network, both Sales Representatives and Distributors, are properly trained and supported to maximize the opportunity for business growth. Makes recommendations for Sales Channel network transitions as the need arises.
- Establish a network of strong and collaborative relationships with key stakeholders including OEMs, Distribution Channel Partners, and other market participants.
- Supports national and regional trade shows, webinars, and factory training events as required.
- Provides direct support for high profile projects and technical service issues as required.
- Maintains up-to-date reporting of sales activities along with analysis and reports on large long-term projects.
- Provides feedback to management regarding industry trends and customers' requirements.
- Conducts training sessions; both internal and external.
- Stays current on competitors' offerings and contributes to competitive analysis by product.
- Provides meaningful input on the overall company sales strategy, product development, and marketing.
- Perform any other duties or responsibilities as requested by the Global Sales Director
CANDIDATE PROFILE
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
- Travel requirements vary by region and time of year; 20%-25% overnight travel and occasional overseas travel is expected to support sales efforts, training and trade shows.
- Ability to work independently.
- Authorized to work in the United States.
- Candidates must be fluent, both written and verbal, in English. Additional language skills are a strategic advantage.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Preferably a 4-year college degree (with a technical background). 3-5 years prior experience in a sales or customer service role in a technical, consultative selling environment. The emphasis is on long-term relationship building vs. "closing". Sales experience in an industrial instrument business. Commercial competence - pricing, sales channels, contract negotiations, and market analysis. Experience working in a multinational corporation.
