AMOT Controls is a leading manufacturer of custom engineered valves and controls for engines, turbines and compressors. This includes thermostatic control valves, air intake shutoff valves for diesel engines, gas fuel control products, etc. A significant portion of AMOT’s products are provided to major engine, turbine and compressor OEM’s, packagers and dealers.
Summary:
AMOT is seeking a professional Sales Engineer to focus on growing the business by securing new applications with existing customers, gaining opportunities to win market share with new customers and identifying new product ideas for development. AMOT has a wide range of products and this individual will need to be able to select best product for the application specifications. Must be nimble and able to pivot between different markets, product lines and applications.
Travel: Up to 10% in the US/Canada region
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Work on warm leads to identify customer’s need, select correct product, and present competitive proposals to win the opportunities.
- Research new accounts and reach out to these prospects via phone, email, Linkedin, etc. to build pipeline of opportunities.
- Train existing customers and dealers on AMOT’s initiatives and product portfolio.
- Occasionally support technical inquiries from existing customers.
- Use CRM database as primary sales tool for managing pipeline and activities.

- Be resourceful and capable of finding solutions to solve customer problems and identify new opportunities
- Be able to work with minimal supervision to consistently build pipeline of opportunities and improve success rate.
- High work ethic and demonstrates confidence to proactively engage with customers.
- Excellent communication skills and be able to have a fluid written and verbal technical conversations.
Performance Metrics:
- Achieves pipeline and revenue quotas
- Engagement with customers and daily activity
Education and Experience:
- Have experience in the control valve or pump industry. Demonstrated experience with reviewing specifications and applications to select product.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in account management, technical sales, application engineering, project management or equivalent is desired.
- Bachelor's degree (B.S.) in engineering, business, marketing (or equivalent) from an accredited institution is a plus.
Language Skills
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Individual will generally be working in the production area. Noise levels encountered will vary from heavy machining to minimum noise level. Likewise, individual may be exposed to fumes from chemicals, paints, and assembly glues in the manufacturing areas. Please refer to the MSDS Notebook in this department for specific details regarding chemical exposure.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: This position requires frequent standing, walking, sitting, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling activities. In addition, there is frequent reaching and climbing of stairs. There is pushing and lifting / carrying of boxes weighing 35 lbs. Average vision and hearing is sufficient.
