About the Job
The Inside Sales "Working" Manager will oversee and lead the activities of the Sales Department including developing policies, programs, and campaigns. The Inside Sales "Working" Manager will be directly responsible for "B2B" Business to Business sales and the work output and performance of 3 Inside Sales Account Managers in addition to 2 or 3 telemarketers. We expect the team to grow by no more than 3 additional people in the next year. Manager will spend at least 50%+ of time as a 'working manager' and will be directly responsible for sales and customer contact as an Account Manager.
Supervisory Responsibilities: - RSTMM - Recruit, Select, Train, Manage & Motivate
- Recruit - involved in recruitment, interview, and facility tour to provide input on who should join team including internal promotions or reassignments.
- Select - Select qualified employees to join the production team and assign each to the appropriate position in the organization, including the utilization of current employees already on the team.
- Train - Supervising the onboarding and training of employees in Account Management roles as well as Telemarketer roles.
- Manage - Oversees and schedules work of ensure employees are properly and effectively engaged in the highest priority tasks and conduct performance evaluations that are timely and constructive.
- Motivate - Ensuring that all subordinates are properly motivated to perform the tasks at hand as well as doing what is in the supervisor's power to maintain and improve individual and the overall moral of the team.
Duties/Responsibilities - Inside Sales Team
- Provides leadership to the Inside Sales team direct reports.
- In office work during normal business hours for approximately 40 hours/week from approximately 9:00amET to 5:30pmET with limited time flexibility.
- Create with input and approval of upper management a cohesive sales plan and works with upper management to implement and manage various marketing plans and activities.
- Manage Account Placements with Account Manager team and insure that Account Managers are properly servicing accounts with Regular Contacts (Email & Telephone), Samples, Price quotations and even customer visits as necessary.
- Ensures Sales Departments has what it needs from the Marketing Department to meet goals and expectations.
- Acts as company representative at customer's places of business, trade shows, industry organizations, etc.
- Limited remote (from home) weekend work approximately 1-2 hours over weekend - checking and replying to sales emails and voice mails - times are flexible.
- Minimal travel local/reginal/national - 95%+ of time in the office - 5% or less traveling and/or working remote (weekends)
- Performs all other duties as assigned. Motivates and encourages Sales/Account Management employees to ensure quotas are met.
- Reviews and analyzes sales and operational records and reports; uses data to project sales, determine profitability and targets, and identify potential new markets.
- Identifies and analyzes customer preferences to properly direct sales efforts.
- Resolves customer complaints, staffing problems, and other issues that may interfere with efficient sales operations.
- Collaborates with executive leadership to develop sales quotas and strategies.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal, sales and customer service skills with proven negotiation skills.
- Proficient computer skills including Microsoft office (or related software) along with ability to learn NetSuite and other CRM and accounting software.
- Strong supervisory and leadership skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
- Thorough understanding of principles and methods used to promote, display, and sell products and services.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, or related field, OR
- Comparable record of sales or marketing leadership experience required.
- At least two years of sales experience required.
- At least two years of management experience required.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Ability to move throughout the warehouse facility
- Must be able to lift up to 20-30 pounds at times.
