Position Description:
Lyte Fiber is seeking a skilled Inside Plant Technician to join our Network Operations team. As an Inside Plant Technician, you will play a critical role in maintaining the performance, the integrity and the presentation of the Inside Plant. Equally important, you will execute the expansion of the network inside plant, maintain the inventory of network consumables and proactively alert and solution inside plant degradation. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the buildout and the expansion of our fiber network in underserved areas. It demands communications skills, coordination skills and planning.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Technical Expertise:
Network Implementation
- Execute rack and stack operations, including the physical installation of network devices, servers and other hardware. Installation and decommissioning of network and cabling infrastructure. Neatly run all fiber and copper wiring, wiring testing, wiring terminations and labeling. Implement DC power installation. Observe the best practices and industry established rules in operating the inside plant.
Network Maintenance
- Conduct break-fix tasks to diagnose and resolve hardware issues promptly. Ensure the integrity and the pristine state of the inside plant. Organize quarterly reports that detail the state of the inside plant and the performance of the maintenance plans. Develop MOPs to execute maintenance windows’ remedies for any inside plant degradation. Establish an assessment and maintenance protocol across all the inside plant.
Security: Establish and govern a strict inside plant access protocol.
Testing
- maintain a strict pre-network deployment testing protocol for network devices and all network circuits including transport, transit, F0, F1 and customer circuits.
Project Management:
Planning and Execution: Experience in planning and executing network expansion projects and network maintenance protocols.
Documentation: Document all network installations, changes and adhere to a strict change-management protocol to maintain the integrity of the network infrastructure.
Collaboration and Communication:
Team Collaboration: Ability to work with cross-functional teams to align network activities with established and well-defined customer experience.
Vendor Management
- Experience in collaborating with vendors and carriers to resolve issues.
Customer Support: Skilled in providing technical support and communicating with internal and external customers.
Leadership and Mentorship:
Guidance: Ability to mentor junior technicians, provide technical leadership and develop job aids for the inside plant team.
Training: Skilled in conducting training sessions to improve team proficiency.

Minimum Qualifications:
Technical Qualifications:
o Install, connect, and decom network equipment.
o Knowledge and use of basic telecom hand tool.
o Program test devices and store test certificates.
o Clear understanding of job safety requirements.
o Knowledge of copper and fiber wiring schemes and wiring testing.
o Basic understanding of both copper and fiber troubleshooting.
o Capable of pulling all types of low voltage cable.
o Able to dress fiber and copper cables and perform wire terminations and labeling.
o Work with and take directions from network engineers, inside plant managers and NOC technicians.
o Capable of maintaining orderly paperwork, logs and network documentation.
o Capable of working in Data Centers.
o Knowledge of basic DC power installation
On-Site Work
- This job is not a remote position, and it requires an on-site presence at the Houston headquarters.
FTTX Experience
- Experience with XGS-PON-based access networks and FTTX deployments.
On-Call Availability
- Ability to lead and participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
· Flexibility to work extended hours, as necessary.
· Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds at times.
· Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
