Job Details
Responsibilities:
- Accurately assign ICD-10-CM, PCS, and other codes for diagnoses and procedures in inpatient medical records.
- Review and interpret medical information to ensure accurate coding.
- Use electronic health record (EHR) systems to access patient information and documentation.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable coding guidelines and regulations, including AHIMA standards and guidelines.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify and obtain documentation for incomplete medical records.
- Conduct regular audits to ensure the accuracy and completeness of coded data.
- Provide training and guidance to other coding staff as needed.
- Participate in the development and implementation of coding policies and procedures.
- Stay current with the latest developments in medical coding and healthcare technology.
Qualifications:
- 3+ years of experience in inpatient medical coding.
- Certification from AHIMA, RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CCS-P, CPC, COC, or CIC is required.
- Proficiency in ICD-10-CM, PCS, and other coding systems.
- Experience with EHR and other electronic health record systems.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Commitment to maintaining the highest standards of confidentiality, integrity, and professionalism.
- Strong desire to stay current with the latest developments in the field of medical coding and healthcare technology.
