Position Overview: Our Injection Molding Machine Technician will be responsible for the set-up and start-up of injection mold machinery and equipment to aid in the production of quality standard products. Duties include running molding machines, performing installations and adjustments, monitoring systems, troubleshooting problems, and conducting regular maintenance to promote the uninterrupted flow of products.
Key Responsibilities and Duties:
- Install molds and set-up injection molding machines for production
- Operate injection mold machines and mold-changing equipment
- Monitor machine performance and part quality, making process changes to achieve part consistency and quality
- Perform machine troubleshooting to ensure an uninterrupted flow of products
- Conduct mold changes based on the molding schedule, including cleaning, lubricating, and inspecting molds
- Document process changes, machine, mold, or part concerns
- Conduct regular maintenance inspections and perform repairs according to preventive maintenance schedules
- Verify inventories of resins and colorants required to meet the molding schedule
- Ensure finished parts are inventoried correctly and stored appropriately
- Maintain a safe workplace, efficient production procedures, and an orderly production area
Qualifications and Competencies Required:
- Previous experience with injection molding equipment in a technical and/or troubleshooting capacity (1 year plastics injection molding experience as well as previous experience as a machine operator working in a production environment preferred)
- Mechanical aptitude and working knowledge of machines and tools
- Production and processing knowledge, including raw materials, production processes, and quality control
- Strong technical and mathematical aptitude, with the ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications
- Critical thinking skills to detect issues and find solutions
- Self-motivated, resourceful, and adaptable; able to work independently within a team-focused environment
- Ability to lift up to 55 pounds with or without assistance
- Knowledge of safety, health, and environmental rules and regulations
- Ability to operate forklift, pallet jack, air tools, hand tools, overhead winch, and engine lift
- Ability to operate molding machine, water tower, air compressor, chiller, and other ancillary equipment
- Good communication skills and attendance
