About Us
Automation Plastics specializes in precision manufacturing and innovative solutions for our clients. We're seeking a skilled Mold Maker I to join our team, where you'll play a key role in maintaining, repairing, and fabricating molds to ensure efficient production and top-quality results.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform maintenance, repairs, and fabrication for new and existing tooling.
- Collaborate with the Tooling Engineer and/or Toolroom Manager to analyze and repair simple to moderately complex molds.
- Plan and fabricate cavity-forming components with precision and attention to detail.
- Operate all mold-making equipment effectively, specializing in at least one area.
- Disassemble and reassemble tooling to verify dimensions and functionality.
- Follow the "8-Stages of Systematic Mold Maintenance" process to ensure optimal results.
- Maintain accurate records of mold maintenance activities.
- Adhere to 5S standards for housekeeping and safety practices.
- Assist in estimating, planning, and completing assigned work efficiently.
- Take responsibility for ensuring customer requirements are met and maintain assigned SPA (Single Point of Accountability) areas.
Qualifications
- Education/Experience:
- Technical school (2-year program) and/or at least 5 years of relevant experience and training.
- Skills:
- Proficient in reading and interpreting safety rules, operating instructions, and manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports and apply advanced mathematical concepts, including geometry and trigonometry.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and reasoning skills.
- Familiarity with injection molds, processing, and reading part/assembly drawings.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision.
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, climb, and use hands and fingers.
- Ability to lift up to 60 pounds.
- Requires good vision (close, color, peripheral, and depth perception), correctable to 20x40.
- Must be willing to work extended hours and holidays as needed.
