Summary:
Supports pharmacy department infusion and sterile compounding operations
Responsibilities:
Assists with supply and drug inventory management, including inventory system up keeping.Assists with education and training of new hires and existing staff requiring cross training in sterile compounding, hazardous compounding, etc.Able to perform all activities within the pharmacy technician scope of practiceGathers, packages and coordinates shipments and returns of supplies and equipment required for medication administration including but not limited to durable medical equipment, drugs, tubing, flushes, disposal containers etc. based on departmental needsAssists with maintenance of USP environmental monitoring per regulatory guidelinesCommunicates with external customers, patients and caregivers to ensure receipt of all medication therapies and supplies dispensed as neededTroubleshoots issues with available automation (i.e. compounder, IV prep software application and automated dispensing devices, etc.).Prepares sterile compounded preparations, including specialty and complex drug preparations such as total parenteral nutrition and chemotherapy.Performs confirmation of product NDC, quantity used and manufacturer to ensure accuracy with billing and reimbursement

Education and Certification Requirements:
High School Diploma or Equivalent (Required)Advanced Certified Pharmacy Technician (ACPHT) - Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB), Certified Pharmacy Technician Exam (EXCPT) - National Healthcareer Association (NHA), Certified Pharmacy Technician Grace (CPHT GRACE) - Employee Grace Period for Essential Credential (GRACE), Registered Pharmacy Technician (RPT LICENSE) - State of Florida (FL)
Additional Job Information:
Complexity of Work: Critical thinking skills, excellent ability to build relationships and interact with various levels of people. Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills. Strong organizational skills. Required Work Experience: Three (3) years of infusion experience. Other Information: Additional Credential Info: Certified pharmacy technician through a nationally accredited organization
