About the Job
The Infusion Prior Authorization Specialist is responsible for the direction and control of the Ambulatory Infusion Authorization program for assigned infusion clinics. Responsibilities include maximizing reimbursement through programs that provide funding or provision of infusion medications, serving as a liaison between clinic teams and the pharmacy staff ensuring effective communication regarding infusion prior authorization issues, and providing insurance authorization and patient assistance program information and education to providers, patients, and staff.
- Education/Training Level:
- Current certification and/or licensure as a Pharmacy Technician in the State of Florida, with an unrestricted certification and/or license.
- Relevant degree in healthcare preferred
- 3-4 years of experience in an infusion environment as a prior authorization specialist
- Knowledge of third-party payers and insurance and billing practices for infusion of pharmaceutical products.
- Knowledge of patient assistance programs
- Exposure to reimbursement, internal billing structure and patient interaction
- Licenses and Certifications:
- State of Florida Pharmacy Technician
- Certified in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) including Automated External Defibrillator (AED) according to guidelines set forth by the American Heart Association (AHA) "Basic Life Support Health Care Provider Course" (BLS-HCP) or willingness to obtain within 30 days of employment.
