We have an exciting role for a Wi-Fi Engineer on Comcast/SKY's Whole Home Wi-Fi organization. Our group works closely with our internal and external development partners to develop and conduct quality related characterizations on Comcast's Global Wi-Fi products. Efforts within the team help ensure a world-class customer experience for the millions of Comcast and SKY customers on our products and platform applications!
We are looking for a highly motivated technical person who will help drive change and help others to constantly come up with better solutions to evaluate product quality, performance and the customer experience; as well as persist in Wi-Fi excellence. We are looking for someone who does not just know how to solve problems, but who helps define the problems and direction, creates value, and pioneers new frontiers in characterizing Wi-Fi behavior in our products.
The Wi-Fi Architect will be responsible for developing, implementing and analyzing product requirements and analysis for Wi-Fi architecture on Customer Premises Equipment (CPE) products with a focus on system requirements and capacity management. Optimizing system resources with a focus on Wi-Fi performance to elevate the customer experience and develop metrics to show improvement with considerations for converging with evolved packet core architecture. Building setups to mimic real world environmental conditions. Researching traffic models and industry trends to provide relevant data for laboratory conditions. Assists in various project teams, developing test strategies, and designing best practices. Able to understand deployment manual/automation solutions to the fast-paced DevOps paradigm, quickly tailoring solutions to help identify, reproduce, and triage lab/field defects. Acts as a key contributor in a complex and crucial environment.
Core Responsibilities
Collaborates with Product and Development teams to identify product and technical requirements that are focused on system resource requirements, Wi-Fi compliance as per 802.11 standards Develops strategies and characterizing Wi-Fi behavior in our new products; leads and able to resolve engineering investigations which includes identifying, reproducing, and resolving product defects Communicates with tool development teams to make best use of automation for new test features introduced for each regulatory domain for global product operations.
Reviews and verifies requirements and design specifications for validity in overall product design, with an emphasis towards product architecture requirements, testability and verification Assists in developing Quality Assurance test philosophies and methodologies; assists in identifying viable test strategies in order to support testing product functionality Familiar with advanced Wi-Fi test automation frameworks and industry trends from IEEE, WFA, WBA, IETF Assist in the identification and resolution of problems and defects; able to initiate investigation processes, identifies and reproduces bugs or defects and drives issues and improvements to resolution
Experience/ Technical Skills
Pre-Requisite:
BS degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering or related technical field Solid understanding of Linux/UNIX, Wi-Fi technology, lab tools and setups, 802.11 technologies and IP protocols.
Troubleshooting and root-cause-analysis skills.
5+ years of experience in networking and wireless technologies.
Regular, consistent and punctual attendance; variable schedule(s) as necessary
Optional:
Experience with Linux/UNIX Performance testing will be added advantage Experience in home networking protocols and technologies such as Bluetooth, Matter, Wi-Fi and other Hands-on experience with device/consumer products test, ideally in high performance applications Background in working in highly automated product test environments and able to assist in test automation/maintenance when necessary Ability to works with technology partner/vendor teams to drive architecture decisions and troubleshoot problems Other duties and responsibilities as assigned
Languages: Good knowledge of data science tools, scripting and programming languages

- Led a Wi-Fi Development Team of 6 engineers to develop Wi-Fi solutions on QNX systems, which are used by automotive and general embedded market customers. Delivered high quality software release under tight schedule.
- Designed the QNX Wi-Fi Driver Integration (QWDI) framework to ease the porting of wpa_supplicant and vendors' Linux Wi-Fi device drivers to QNX.
- Designed the Wi-Fi unit test framework, used gcov tool to test code coverage.
- Authored Wi-Fi feature requirements, high level design, and detailed design documents for QNX releases. Collaborated closely with the testing manager to effectively present the Wi-Fi development roadmap to the product manager.
