Infrastructure Project Manager
Irving, TX || Miami, FL (Onsite Position)
Fulltime Position
Project Planning and Scheduling:
- Defining Project Scope: Clearly outlining what the project will deliver, and the tasks needed to achieve these deliverables
- Scheduling: Developing a realistic timeline that considers all phases of construction, from design and procurement to construction and commissioning. Tools like Gantt charts and Critical Path Method (CPM) can be invaluable
- Resource Allocation: Ensuring the right resources (Client, equipment, materials) are available at the right time to prevent delays
Risk Management:
- Identify Risks: Proactively identifying potential risks that could impact the project
- Develop Mitigation Strategies: Creating plans to minimize the impact of these risks
- Monitor and Adjust: Continuously monitoring for new risks and adjusting plans accordingly
Technical Knowledge:
While a project manager doesn't need to be an engineer, having a strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and technologies is crucial. This technical knowledge allows the manager to:
- Communicate Effectively: Understand and relay technical details between engineers, architects, and contractors.
- Make Informed Decisions: Assess technical aspects of the project and make decisions that align with overall project goals
Budget Management:
Managing the project budget is critical to ensure the project is completed within financial constraints. Key aspects include:
- Cost Estimation: Accurately estimating costs for labor, materials, equipment, and other expenses.
- Financial Tracking: Monitoring expenses against the budget to identify and address any variances promptly.
- Value Engineering: Finding cost-effective alternatives without compromising quality or performance
Leadership and Team Management:
A project manager must lead and motivate a diverse team, ensuring collaboration and high performance. Essential leadership skills include:
- Communication: Clearly conveying project goals, updates, and expectations to all team members and stakeholders
- Conflict Resolution: Addressing and resolving conflicts that arise within the team or with external parties
- Empowerment: Delegating tasks effectively and empowering team members to take ownership of their roles
Stakeholder Management:
Infrastructure projects involve various stakeholders, including clients, contractors, government agencies, and the public. A project manager must:
- Identify Stakeholders: Understanding who the stakeholders are and what their interests and expectations are.
- Engage Stakeholders: Keeping stakeholders informed and involved throughout the project to ensure their needs are met and support is maintained.
- Negotiate and Influence: Balancing stakeholder demands and negotiating compromises when conflicts arise
- Providing daily, weekly and monthly status reports on the project progress, risks, action items and progress summary.
Problem-Solving and Decision-Making:
Challenges and unforeseen issues are inevitable in construction projects. A project manager must:
- Analyze Problems: Quickly and accurately assess issues that arise
- Develop Solutions: Creating effective solutions that address the root cause of problems
- Make Decisions: Making timely and informed decisions to keep the project on track
Mandatory Skills
- PMP Certification or an Equivalent
- Creation and Execution of Project Plans
- Effective communication skills [verbal and written]
- Experience in creating and presenting status reports to stakeholders
- Risk Management
- Understanding of Project Management Life cycle, Project Management Tools
- Resource / Task Allocation and Resource Management Skills
- Collaboration skills to work with various engineering and infra, app support teams and interacting with customer leaders [Director+ Levels]
